I heard that if you leave your aura alone, it will change depending on how you vote (I guess thats how auras used to work). I changed mine, so do I loose my aura selfchangability?

nope. they do not do that.
it used to work that way until people abused the feature, now the only way to change your aura is manually in your account settings.

No, your aura has no effect on anything. it's just your choice of color behind your level icon. It will not change on it's own, only you can do that. It did work like that at one time, though that was about 8 years ago.

It doesn't change, even if you leave it alone. You used to not be able to change it at all, and your voting habits would decide it (but people would vote 0 on everything to get dark, etc.) so they changed it. It's now just a vanity item. Choose your favorite color!

It was originally just neutral, light, and dark right? Or was it evil? Whenenver someone mentions the original 3 auras, it's always evil, or dark. Which one was it?

I'm fairly certain it was Light Neutral and Dark, but Dark was red colored, hence the confusion.

It was that way prior to the redesign. Now you can change it manually.

Interestingly there seems to be no penalty for acting like you're a happy little goody two-shoes even if you have a higher tendency to blam flash submissions. Maybe it would be better off the old way or with NewGrounds suggesting a change one time only if your votes contradict your selected aura (but with no penalty if that was intended)? The current form just seems like a way for people to have the apparent attitude of their choice to anyone who doesn't compare their blams and saves.

If you want to use it to show how you vote on flashes, go ahead. If you want to choose your favorite color, do that. There is no need for a suggesting system if someone is happy with their aura color.
