IMHO, it should have kept going. The helicopter pilots flying their bodies should have been texting and then crash their helicopters into each other. And then the people picking up the remains of the dead helicopter pilots body notice the phone in his cold dead hands is getting a phone call from his wife and kids singing him the happy birthday song and awaiting his arrival to his party later in the day. Then the guy that noticed the call goes home and is so depressed he shoots himself in the head and a drop of his HIV positive blood from the blood spatter falls out his window into the eye of a pregnant woman whose husband leaves her after she gives birth and finds out her condition because he thinks she got the STD from cheating on him. Then her child asks her one day why she doesn't have a daddy and all the mom does is cry.
