How do you define "normal people"? 2009-08-23 15:38:35 Reply

I'd consider the phrase "normal people" as being legitimate.

If you imagine a person who is an absolute mixture of every human being on the planet, they would be perfectly normal, however, that wouldn't be normal because nobody is that perfect at being something. So basically, I define normal people as those who are within a certain distance from being a perfectly normal person in there community. People who are too far away from this perfect equilibrium are considered to not be normal.

So when I tell people that I want to be normal & they ask me what normal is I say that.

There is no such thing as normal, as everybody is a unique individual.
Media can easily create and recreate what society will view "normal" as, but ultimately, there is no such thing.

I know, I'm trying to give the phrase lateral meaning.

FYI there is no such thing as 'normal'. We're all different, 'normal' just means what is accepted better.

Though to answer the question, I guess I'd say Normal people are;

Thin good looking people with no social interaction issues who don't worry about death every night and who have healthy romantic relationships and spend their money on good clothes and going out with friends.

there is no such thing as normal. some people have their own views on being normal but infact there are people who force people to be "normal". chavs think that being normal is wearing tracksuits listening to rave and dance music but infact its not. its being yourself.

Well normality is a very hard subject to address it's all point of view, crazy-insane or insane-crazy.

I don't. Simple as that. Just don't think about it.

And don't try to advertise your thread on two different forums.

I agree with most of that, except the "thin good looking" part. I've never seen anyone have problems being "normal" because of their weight and/or appearance, granted quite a lot of fat people have problems with bullying and the like, but I don't think it doesn't make you "normal". I've always seen "normal" being based around your actions and how you are as a person, not psychical appearance, like I could see a fat person as "normal", a wheelchair bound person as "normal" etc.

I guess I'm actually very shallow. Weight is a big issue in my life (lol pun). I let it control everything. I imagine if I ever do lose weight I'll end up going from one extreme to the other - obese to anorexic.

Normal has the same ring to it as boring. I define normal people as boring people. I pray that I'll never be "normal."

I consider normality to be the inability to think in a circle, instead of just a straight line.
