All jackassery aside- having listened to the tracks entered into this competition, one thing became very apparent.

I can't win this on most of your terms.

Trance? Yes, I've made it before. No, it's not like it was any kind of quality...

Techno? Made some awesome stuff. See Tiesto Killed The Techno Star. But couldn't come up with anything.

DnB? aaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahaha

Ambient? Now, I knew this was where my opportunity was. I like to think of myself as a master craftsman of synths...

but let's make it a little darker, more ominous, and experimental- I can't get in through conventional music, but I'll make it in through pure intrigue, and maybe a little French. :D

You watch.

Ooh ooh, i want to join :D.
Qeustion though, on what terms are the 'winners' selected? On pure quality, origenality, uniqueness? Something commercial or never heard of before?
Obviously you will get alot of trance submissions, and i'm going to contribute to that list, but what makes it that you will choose the one over the other?

:) I hope you can answer my questions

Ranked in order of importance:

1. Quality (Is the track mixed well? Does it rely heavily on presets? Is there peaking/clipping?)
2. Catchiness - Commercial Appeal
3. Amount the individual contributes to the audio community
4. Length (is the track way too long? Too short?)

That's basically it. If you make an extremely catchy song that has some minor quality issues, you'd be in better shape than if you had an extremely well-mixed song that was boring.

Well, trance is a bit different when it comes to length. Generally longer mixes yield more build up - which is a good thing.

But it depends on the genre and specific song.

- im wondering if (as it is the same demo with added shit) im allowed to upload it (With solus permisson - obviously it'll have the original title of the track with "Genjo Remix" in brackets somewhere)

i looked at your pre-requisites

Sorry bud, but you already posted "Rude:Demo- industrial Hardcore" on 8/25/09 at 10:55pm.

"Secondly, by linking to your demo, you are officially entering yourself into the judging process. Linking to multiple songs will not help you. Only your first song will be judged. If you decided to hastily post something, delete it, and then post a different song, your lovely ERROR page will be noted.

All submissions from this point on must and are expected to abide by these rules as they are now openly stated in this forum post. Reading is good, I promise."

I know i'm being strict about these rules, but they're supposed to encourage prolonged preparation and consideration about the project instead of throwing things together hastily. RenoakRhythm and Kaizerwolf pointed it out a couple of pages ago.

My song has 1 preset, VERY generic polysynth. The rest of my instruments are either created from scratch, or heavily tweaked (I use Reason, no FL, so the presets probably aren't the same anyways) If accepted, I'll definitely change that, and be open to any issues you have with originality of my track. I hope this helps.

People shouldn't be too worried about presets. Everyone uses them and some people abuse them. There really is no problem with using a preset or two. Not everyone is a sound engineer who aced Synthesis 101. The main reason behind "Don't use presets" is the ever so awkward Sytrus presets that you hear in so many songs on newgrounds. The most common use for a preset is just to tweak and use it as a base sound till you've found and modified it enough to your liking.

Plus who wants to make a synth and find out someone already made it.

Oh right, the presets. Don't worry, man, I don't really have high expectations anyhoo. However, I almost forgot about this one.

Well, each file is associated by a link. When you upload a song, it's given a link, a picture, a description, etc. You can change which FILE you've uploaded to that link by going to your accounts page and clicking "EDIT" for that song.

Simply someone who is active in the community. Be it forums, reviews, contests, etc.

You hastily posted a song, deleted it, and then posted another. This thread has been full of posts telling participants not to do that, but i'll help you out:
