I feel like people are getting what the whole DEMO thing entails. Most people are putting almost a full song that they'll change a bit... Is that really counted as a demo? Or just a complete unfinished track.

Cause if so I'll put heaven rd. 2 here and add a hi hat somewhere.

No, it's not counted as a demo.

I think some people are confused about what they should be submitting. The song you are offering should be in the realm of 2 - 7 minutes long. The demo you submit should convey this, but be a small version of it, approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute in length.

This'll be mah submission I guess. Hopefully I picked the right track to do the job. Genre is Dance. Ayup. Btw, if I get chosen, I will definitely expand upon the song, I made sure there was plenty of room for that before I submitted.

Pffff. Submit anyway! :D

Hot damn. This album is going to rock faces. There are already at least four tracks in there that I love and WILL get.

Seems there are a couple of completed songs in there, though. And some that were submitted too early in their progress & could use work. Can't wait to hear more tracks-- one more month? o_o

If everything goes well, I may have the secret weapon of win.

I've contacted a certain person whose music I've always admired, in hopes that they'll give me a few pointers n' such. :D

I thought i might as well try for myself, I'll be trying for the house category, a genre i'm only doing for 2 days now.

The demo can be found at http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/2 69301 (:

Hope you enjoy!

So I started on a demo, but it turned into a whole song. I'm not posting it to N.G. Yet, cause I wanted to see if you might want it for the project. There's at most a little bit of effect work left to do on it, but this is basically the finished project. You can listen to it HERE. It's called October, the first song that will play.

I'm itchin' like a bear on a fuzzy tree, to put this song on N.G. so I would LOVE a reply yae or nae. Please keep me posted.

Regards,
merlin

I forgot to mention that my song is in the category of New Wave. And also, am I not to upload it to NG as a finished song, or is it okay for me to upload it anyways? I just don't see the point of submitting a "Clip" of the song if it's already done.

If this thing doesn't have a Karco, xKore, or Nechura track, I might piss myself to death.

NOTES:

darthduba, Mmmcake, & tijnn - You need to be 100% sure that what you plan on submitting to the final product is not a similar piece to the demo (since it's a nearly finished project and is too long to be a formal demo clip.)

Joonho - Unfortunately your first submission has been deleted.

MerlinsBeard - You need to post a demo/sample of the song on Newgrounds to qualify for auditions.

Both times you've submitted songs that are clearly well over the appropriately-considered length of a "demo."

Let me reiterate, by saying that you should not be submitting full-length songs. The fact that you've implied that the content you've submitted is willing to change does not really mean that what you've put into the audio portal is a "demo." It's not that I don't like your tracks - they're not bad at all - it's rather that myself and others have made it clear that we're expecting a short (less than 1 minute) chunk of the song and nothing more. If you already have a song completed, which you do, it would've been better to just cut out a section of it that was roughly 1 minute in length and then submit that clip.

It's very similar to those food samplers at the grocery store. There's a reason they give you a small taste of what they're selling - instead of a full box or what have you with the notion of "this is basically exactly what you'll get, but it may change to some degree."

The biggest problem with submitting full tracks that will have minor to major tweaks is that a relatively-large portion or similar version of the song now exists on the internet and it sort of defeats the purpose of selling the song.

Anyway, sorry to come off as a stickler, but you really could have gotten all of this information had you read through the original post.

"Okay, so how do I audition?

The audition will take place in a way very similar to the Monthly Audio Contests held here in the Audio Portal. You will submit a CLIP/DEMO/SAMPLE of your song to the portal for judging.YOU MUST SUBMIT SAID CLIP/DEMO/SAMPLE BY OCTOBER 1ST FOR QUALIFICATION."

Shit I didn't realise that we were not supposed to post full length songs.

Response to Electronic EP #2! Get involved! 2009-09-04 14:52:59

Is there any chance if we could post a chunk of a new track before October 1? Since, I didn't realise that posting full length songs would ruin the whole thing. My bad!!

Sorry. Hopefully this will be a good learning experience. You need to be sure to read EVERYTHING before hastily submitting something.

Unfortunately even if it was only a demo, i'm afraid it wouldn't get far as it is chock full of FL pack presets.

Response to Electronic EP #2! Get involved! 2009-09-04 17:33:27

If you read the topic a bit, you'd learn that songs will be chosen sometime after October 1st.
