You can change all of your user settings from the "My Account" page which can be opened at anytime by clicking "My Account" found in the top right.

Where it says "Logged in as: Username". Below that.

There isn't much point in them down but before the redesign, they used to represent how you vote. Having a Light aura meant you mainly vote high on UJ submissions, having an Evil aura meant you mainly vote low on UJ submissions and Neutral meaning you vote inbetween.

Now, they mean anything now. They're just there for you to choose which colour goes best with your level icon.

Actually it's been several years since auras were actually determined by your voting. According to a user who signed up in November of 2003, when he signed up they were already user-controlled. The idea is still that you indicate your general voting disposition with your aura, but it's also an expression of your personality. For instance, Fab users probably mostly vote with a catfaic :3 instead of numbers.

Fab is pink. In all honesty auras really don't mean much of anything anymore, so just choose your favorite looking one!

i wouldn't call medals pointless to be honest... they serve as a carrot and to get people to play more, to get all medals in a game. quite efficient if i may say so myself.
