Breast Cancer Research Fund - Works to achieve prevention and a cure for breast cancer.
I just wanted to pipe in and say a big "Thank You!" for mentioning BCRF here. At least 91% of every dollar goes to their research and programs. They just do so much to help men and women affected by breast cancer.
While there are a vast number of breast cancer treatment options for post-menopausal women, young women (and men) find that there are many challenges to getting effective treatment (and even diagnosis in many cases). There has been a sharp increase in the percentage of very young women (teens and 20s) getting breast cancer, but they are less likely to survive it than women over 40 due to delays in diagnosis, treatment and less agressive treatment once diagnosed.
BCRF works hard to overcome these barriers and makes big strides in equalizing treatment. This may seem minor, but most breast cancer research is directed at older women despite the much higher rate of death among the young.
