oh my god. I just read through all the pages here, and i have to congratulate you for making through all the abuse by the oh so funny baron and friends.
what wankers. if you dont like goths, fine, but why hassle these people in their own space. i dont go to the prep club and tell them to suck my ass, and i would expect the same courtesy to be returned.

I spent a long time wearing black, listening to metal, and adamantly denying I was a goth, despite the fact that thats what everyone else called me. I think that the way to distinguish mall goths from real goths should involve something like that. A trial period where you ignore the stereotyping and do it anyway. If after 6 months or so, youre still wearing black and liistening to metal etc, then you deserve to use the name gothic.
I've had my trial of fire, where I was only called a goth as a form of abuse. I learned to revel in my torment, to stand tall and say "FUCK YOU, IM GOTHIC"
until then, youre a mall goth in my books.

I cant deny that. And Im not trying to. I listen to lots of goth music. But I think I have the right to not be forced into exclusivity. I respect all genres of music (except country and western) if the music is done well, and that shouldnt make people doubt my Gothicality.
