Only aesthetics for the Slim are it's mainly SHORTER, and it has push buttons instead of touch.

Big deal. Press left on the analog stick and it goes away. It's less intrusive than the 360 setup and PSN is still free.

People are complaining that the Slim looks ugly. I think it's stupid too, but buying a fat for the same price is their alternative if the looks of the system are actually deterring them.

I don't know how people can complain. They wanted it, they got it. Risking 40 GBs of space just for a bulky good look is not worth it.

If you didn't know, the PS3 is a Super Computer. Having an alternative is always a nice way to go, and Sony promised the PS3 Slim would have EVERYTHING the normal PS3 has. This is not true.

Honestely the PS3 was pretty advanced hardware when it got released and it did cost a fair bit to make one. To have asked for it to be smaller back then is just ludicrous.

I am not going to bitch about losing money on an older PS3 because I did not get one. I realised that after a certain period of time Sony would release a PS3 Slim and drastically lower the price, they've done it twice before why not a third time?
Maybe waiting a couple of years to buy a console is not such a bad thing.

Wow the thin version looks awesome. Oh so tiny but not so shiny. Still If the slim ps3 is going to be cheap then definitely going to want it.

I think the slim version looks 10x better than the original!

I have a ps3 and compared to that it's fat and clunky with random bits sticking out, and the shiny plastic looks kind of cheap :/

The slim version looks a lot more simple and retro.

Sony stated THEY REMOVE THE INSTALL OTHER OS feature for PS3 Slim. Linux was the OS in this feature.

I wouldn't be surprised if a 360 redesign launched alongside Natal. I don't think there's really as much of a need for it from Microsoft's perspective. They were able to cut prices way before Sony, so they don't need a drastic revision to price competitively and cut costs.

You alter the components. Slim consoles have some pretty major hardware revisions, which is what leads to reduced production costs. The price cut is a result of these reduced production costs, as well as reduced shipping/storage costs because the systems are smaller and less expensive.
