Sony stated THEY REMOVE THE INSTALL OTHER OS feature for PS3 Slim. Linux was the OS in this feature.

I'm glad to see that the price drop rumours were true, but now they're pretty pointless since the new PS3 is the same price as the current ones. It would be best to wait a month since you'll be paying the same price for more hard drive space. Hopefully stores like Best Buy will continue to give free games away with the purchase of the new model like they did with the old ones.

I already have a PS3 80 gig and im happy with it. The PS3 Slim isn't... well.. how to put this... creative.
They already had a PS2 which was good, but a PS3 Slim? Meh. Your basically paying for a PS3 20-160 gig (not sure if the Slim goes that high) that is slimmer and looks uglier. I wouldn't mind if Microsoft made the Xbox 360's smaller.

There's a 181 page thread (will not be able to see unless you have an account because it's archived now) on GAF that says otherwise. There were tons of pictures which are now known to be credible. Honestly, the pictures weren't the largest indicator that it was going to be announced today. Those just showed that it was in production. It was the recent manufacture and retail statistics (Sony ordering a ton more parts and retail discontinuing the 80GB) that pointed to it being announced at Gamescom. Just because you didn't see all of the obvious indicators doesn't mean they didn't exist. Seriously, if you didn't see this coming, you're just uninformed.

Only aesthetics for the Slim are it's mainly SHORTER, and it has push buttons instead of touch.

Big deal. Press left on the analog stick and it goes away. It's less intrusive than the 360 setup and PSN is still free.

People are complaining that the Slim looks ugly. I think it's stupid too, but buying a fat for the same price is their alternative if the looks of the system are actually deterring them.
