Scariest game youve played?

Whats the scareist game youve played? I think all the silent hill 5 was really scary, and fear was just plain creepy.

The Scariest game i ever played was (above) silent hill 1. its just so fucking scary, and was extreme in the "Psychological thriller" areas. (not levels, i mean the game itself)

meh ive never really tried anything past dead space or bioshock. im willing to give FEAR a try one day though

I haven't found any game I've played to be particularly scary but the one that got to me the most was The Suffering. The whole game is really disturbing and there are loads of jumpy moments as well. Also it gives the feeling that the main character is slipping into insanity, which is manifested in lots of horrible ways. It was an experience to say the least.

Yeah i played the suffering it was creepy because the first enemy you face likes to jump at you from walls and stuff :D

fear had its moments. Alma made the game more scary and that was it it was an alright horror/fps game. Personally the first resident evil. 1 reason the dogs jumping out of the window.

I haven't played that many horror games at all sadly. The only games i can remember playing that fit into the genre are bioshock and eternal darkness.

bioshock wasnt that scary to be honest eternal darkness yes it was a game notorious for scaring its game audience.

Eternal darkness was just plain awesome and bioshock only had a few jump scares early on. The memory card deletion insanity always gets people good. It can also fuck with your head a little if you play too much. I was playing once when the power actually did go out and i thought it was just an insanity effect.......... Scariest for me must have been a game which was bought for me when I was young. We had just changed computers and a ggame we previously owned didn't work anymore (Alice in Wonderland :L). So, we decided to buy a new Alice in Wonderland game for our new computer, little did we know, it was the gory remake of the game entitled "American McGee's Wonderland". In THIS game Alice is a knife wielding psycho. At my young age I was traumatised lol.

Probably Forbidden Siren, I played a demo of it I got in a PS2 magazine when I was about 9-11 years old and it just scared the crap out of me.

I have to admit, Doom 3 scared the pants off of me a couple of times. Just the ways they fucked with the lighting and sounds could really mess you up if you're alone in a dark room.

Penumbra Overture has got to be the most scary game I've played. I've probably booted it up about five times late at night and decided screw this I'm not playing this game at this time of night because it is so creepy to me (others thing it's lame). It's different from other scary games because you have no weapons to defend yourself and the notes that you find along the way make the game very ominous. It's a steal at the $10 I got it at for the trilogy on steam and I recommend it to anyone who wants a scary game that isn't about shooting zombies and seems to get some inspiration from the adventure genre.

Not that many games scare me. Sure, I get a little creeped on games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil, but the one game that put total fucking fear in me would be Dead Space. Holy hell, that game is fucked up.
