short deadline audio contests?

I see lots of contests and they're great and all..
But I'd like to see a competition that has like an hour time limit. In the world of audio, deadlines are a constant. I'd like to see a contest that pushes our composers to the limit.

That sounds like a lot of fun.

For it to work though.. you'd need to let everyone know in advance, and I'd make it so there is maybe.. I dunno.. a two hour slot of time.

Of course, you'd have to make some type of crazy recommendation... or who knows.. maybe an "instant remix" contest.. where we find an artist willing to donate a sample or acapella to the project.. and then when you say go, you post a DL link and people just go for it, and upload by the deadline.

Then, have a few judges ready to blow through all the entries within 2 hours...

And follow it up by a results broadcast almost immediately after.

So like a 5 hour turnaround time for the whole contest.

Reminds me of a contest I did a while back: "You can't actually listen to what you've made until you export the song and submit." THAT was interesting :P

This isn't going to work, based solely on the fact that everybody is in DIFFERENT TIME ZONES. DId you think about that? Did you? FAIL

Now, this is just a guess, but I THINK that there can be more than one person per time zone. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Also, how could that possibly screw it up? A different timezone doesn't change the duration of two hours.

if i were you i would just go for it and organize the contest. maybe even have it organized so the winner could be broadcast on echoz radiogrounds show.

Dont worry about what the other people are saying, some people here are elites and like to micromanage things and put people down. you figure you put up the post and say that in a week or two you will be upload ing the sample so everyone can get ready for the 2 hour window. If they dont want to participate they dont have to. Personally i think its a good idea and a fun challenge for some people.

If it fall through it falls through, if it works it works. There is only one way to find out.

And when you make an official contest thread you should state
" Please only respond to this contest if you are willing to give suggestions , judge or compete"
" Do not respond to say that this wont work"

Yeah, there are times when most people will be online that work for most everybody.

Especially considering that many around here stay up really late.

As long as the 2 hour window is set like a week in advance, and on a weekend... people should be able to participate. Just put it in a relatively neutral time via GMT.

Funds involved for starting a contest = $0.

Start it yourself yo! I would enter, but give ppl like a days notice so they got enough time to be aware.

That's why this contest concept is so great, it forces you to do something new and different, outside your little bubble of comfort.

If you're going for a 2 hour time limit, it should work pretty easily.
I'm in central Canada, and I talk to people from Europe a lot. It's only like a 6 or 7 hour time difference. So if you started the contest at like...1pm central time, that'd totally work out for the majority of people.

I think I just excluded all of Asia....woops. :P

Suggestion: When you announce the date that the contest will start, don't give ANY details.

Give the details right before it starts.

yeah thats what I was thinking. I've decided that I will do the contest, But I'm not sure when. Definitely soon though. And I'll be looking for your submission!
