It wont achieve anything if I go hungry for nearly 2 days. I have a very demanding job and I wont be able to think straight if I'm hungry.
For every pound of food you don't eat, I'll eat three. Those Africans should learn not to overpopulate and to avoid AIDS if they don't want to starve.
Ireland has already had it's fair share of famine. I think I'll pass.
Once, my parents left for Manchester when I was 8 for a 5 day getaway and left no money and an incapable grandmother to take care of me.
I didn't eat a thing for almost 2 days, around 40 hours I guess, until my neighbours noticed me screaming at birds because I thought they were laughing at me, and gave me a meal.
Moral of the story, I wouldn't advise going that long without food without a good reason 0.o
Let me guess, this is just some guilt-trip gimmick to "raise awareness" of global famine, while at the same time easing the consciences of the middle classes who think the whole ordeal is terrible but would still rather pull some inconsequential stunt than actually do something to solve the problem. Am I close?
No I won't be doing this, for a number of reasons. Mainly, the whole "raising awareness" thing. I defy you to find someone who actually isn't aware of famine, poverty, cancer, AIDS, global warming or any such international crisis. Yet charities still hold events to raise awareness for these like people are wandering the streets blissfully detached from the whole thing. And does raising awareness actually help in any way, other than emotionally blackmailing people into throwing away their money to a charity that will give such a small amount to the cause for which it has been pledged? No.
It's not like I don't care, I just don't care enough to intentionally malnourish myself for such a pedantic cause.
Can you drink stuff like V8 or just water? I don't think I could make it more than 6 hours without food.

I might do something like that as a personal challenge, but since it's 'for Africa' I won't do this for another week.
The longest I've ever gone without food - with sleep - was 20 hours or something like that. Of course, this was after doing it repetitively over a certain period of time, so my metabolism had slowed way down.
Like shakyjake said, raising awareness about something like this really is meaningless. If it was actually an effort to raise money or if it was concerning something that your average person didn't understand then maybe I'd think about it, but all this is is self mutilation in the name of guilt.
And what would be the benefit, may I ask?
