It's probably a graveyard, I'm not too sure.

Well that sucks, if anyone would like to help me with this feel free to post.

:While I'm searching, could anyone recommend some parts for the PC I'm building? First timer, for the most part there is :no budget. It's going to be used all the time of course, using music programs like FL, maybe some gameplay :recording/editing. Gaming will be the main purpose of the PC. I don't want to mess with overclocking just yet as well as :water cooling, a bit hesitant on that aspect. I'm not sure if I should buy an external sound card to get more from my music :or games.

:Also, is this a good time to build a computer? Some people say so and so month is the best time of year to buy a TV, car :etc. From what I've read a while ago Windows 8 wasn't being met with any good reviews and the people preferred Win 7, I :too seem to prefer Win 7 any other input you may add?

:I always use amazon to buy stuff, but I have checked out Newegg and TigerDirect in the past, which have better prices :overall when it comes to computer parts?

:Any other information that you would like me to provide that would better help the suggestions?

If you're a HARDCORE FAN prepare to be always disappointed.

Yea, I think when users like PolishMatt and ThoseSneakyFrench stopped posting, that place pretty much became useless. There were probably some other people who contributed to that thread but those two seemed to be the guys you'd want to speak to about building a computer.

Are you playing solo or with other people? Me and my mate went through a Dungeon Defenders phase and we were pretty hooked on that game. We'd play it for hours and got some pretty decent characters. It's pretty hard to play on your own though. You pretty much need other people to help out and it usually helps if they're not the same class. I tried doing it solo a couple times and I just couldn't get into it that way.

I played it solo. I never play with other people the first time I complete the campaign. Since most people ruin the experience for me.

In regards to X1SephX's post, given your guidelines I'd recommend;

Intel i5 2500k 3.3ghz(I think) CPU
Any 1155 socket compatible Motherboard
a 500w+ Power Supply
8GB of DDR3 RAM
Either a Radeon HD 7850
or an Nvidia GTX 650 ti
A hard drive of your choice, probably a 1TB one from the sounds of things
And a case of your choosing, as long as it supports ATX or Micro ATX which most do anyway
You'll also need to research some sound cards, as I'm not reallllllly that well versed on them.

Don't follow that word for word, just use it as a general guide, as most of that is pretty much the norm for gaming/creative PCs, feel free to get more RAM or what have you. You can also get things like a bigger power supply or an after market cooler for your CPU also.

As for places to buy from, I take it you're from the US? If so then yeah, you can buy from Newegg, Tiger Direct and places like Amazon, feel free to shop around to save yourself money.
Sorry if this post doesn't make sense, I'm tired.

Decided to buy Plants vs. Zombies on Steam seeing as it's only £1.74 or something just now. Jackho's mentioned how good it is a couple times so I thought I'd get it. Little late to the party, I know. Also tempted to get the complete Magika pack but I don't have a Windows PC to run it on.

Actually leaning more towards spending my money on a new PC again instead of putting it towards a bike license. I'll probably wait a few months though.

Plants vs Zombies is fun for sure. It's been a few years since I last played it so if they've updated the game I've not seen what they've changed. I just went through one playthrough of it and left it at that.

Plants vs. Zombies is pretty damn fun. I also noticed that the Cthulhu Saves the World & Breath of Death VII Double Pack is only priced at 66p so there's no chance I'd pass up on that offer! Some old-school RPG parody goodness right there. I don't think they run too well on Linux under Wine though so I'll probably just have to let them sit in my tiny Steam library collecting virtual dust for a while.

Think I'll try and put this Counter Stike: GO weekend on Steam to use. I played CS:S a while back but I just got so badly owned in that it put me right off wanting to play it. I'm hoping that wont be the case with CS:GO but we'll see.

Suppose it gives me a chance to see what my internet connection is like for gaming. One thing I always noticed is that I can play on Xbox Live perfectly fine and suffer no lag, but on PC games I tend to lag from time to time. Even in servers that give me a ping of < 100. Maybe it wasn't lag and was just my PC desperately trying to run the game but I dunno. My MacBook should be more than capable of running CS:GO so we'll see.

Still like an hour and a half before I finish downloading CS:GO though.

I just realised that I've bought five games within the past two weeks and haven't played a single one.

What's wrong with me?

I hate to think how many retro games I bought over the summer that I never got around to playing. There was a lot. And by a lot, I mean A LOT. I just counted and there's about 60 of them. Fuck. Well, I did play most of them at least once but usually it was only for about 5 minutes to make sure I was sold a working copy.

It's a vicious cycle because now I can't play something all the way through without wanting to start playing something else. That means I either rush through the games or in some cases toss them to the side to play something else.

Yeah, exactly. I haven't even done that. I literally bought the games, took the stickers off of the cart or case, and then through them on the shelf.

Despite how uncommon it seems to be for a cart not to work, I still always check them. I don't think I've ever been sold something that doesn't work. Actually, I think my copy of Heavyweight Champ on Master System doesn't seem to work but I think it just needs cleaned. The only other bad experience I've had so far was a copy of the first Max Payne on PS2 that was scratched and stopped running about half way through the game. That was kind annoying.

What with work and what not, gaming's taken a backseat at the minute. Don't think I've booted up my console in over a week. However, I've got a load of unused holiday's at work I'm trying to use and so starting tomorrow I've got three whole days off for the first time in a long time. Que lots of TV, gaming and movies.

I was watching someone playing Deadly Premonition on YouTube last night and it made me want to start playing it again. I just don't have the time though :(

On the bright side only a few more weeks before the semester is over. Then I'll have a few weeks with not much to do. The perfect opportunity to play video games.

Well the bar for video game films isn't set that high so... :p

But yeah, I was already planning on checking it out when I first saw the trailer. I heard there weren't that many video game references in it though, but it's good nonetheless.

Not too late for a fellow game enthusiast joining the thread, is it? Granted, I haven't been able to play as many games as I would like to (YAY COLLEGE :P), but I still play a bit from time to time.

Oh, and I too wish to watch Wreck-It Ralph, although I doubt I can watch it until it comes out on DVD.
