Ok I was playing my brand new Oblivion game of the year edition when all of a sudden my cat accidentally knock my 360 over luckily i was fast and cought the 360 before it hit the ground so no harm came to the sytem however when i took the game out to see if it was ok it had about 3-4 tiny circles scratched into it. well i looked it up and apparently this is caused by the that the 360 has no bouncer system in it or something. it says that there is no way to fix and the game will never be able to be played again. but i was really hoping if anyone on newgrounds knew how to fix it because that game cost me like 40 bucks

any help would be apreciated

NEVER, EVER, USE TOOTH PASTE ON DISCS. IT ONLY MAKES IT WORSE

use a wood polishing spray like pledge and leave it on for a night or two.

2 nights judging from how bad your disc is scratched up.

Nothing will fix it, once you scratch the CD the information that was on the scratched part is gone forever, seeing as how you basically dug it off of it.

So yeah it will never work again. Too bad it had to be a good game like oblivion though.

Take it in to your local game shop (I work at a Game Crazy) and see if they can buff it out. Most of the time, those circles are repairable. Word of advice, keep your system flat instead of standing up.

it happened to my halo 3 disc when a controller fell of the tv and landed on the xbox. some games can be replaced for half price by the microsoft website. I don't think they do that for oblivion though. just have to buy a new one.

Try what Jonas said. Keep your Xbox flat as well, and don't have it vertical. I had that happen to my Call of Duty 4 disc a while back - I was unlucky though. My Xbox tore a good bit out of the middle of the disc and I had to buy a new copy.

I heard Game Stop had some disc cleaning device. Dunno I didn't test it out, yet.

Another solution is to borrow another disk of oblivion and install onto your HDD, then use your original disc, worked for my friend on COD4.

Yea, this has happened to a lot of my games, it ruined fallout 3 left 4 dead and gears 2. I bought left 4 dead and fallout 3 back but no more gears for me. I know hastings can buff a game out, not all gamestops can buff them out. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Good luck

Yeah that happened to me before. What you need is a disc cleaner. It's like 40 bucks or so but if you ever have problems with any other game you can use it. This is the one that I have. I can't tell you if other ones work or not but I know from experience this one does.

I used it on when my xbox tipped over and it scratched up my GoW disc pretty bad, but now it runs like new.

:Not that I play GoW anymore

But it's worked on other games that have been scratched up. Just make sure you read the instructions on the disc cleaner. Make sure its for the right discs too.

That's not true. The bit that's scratched is basically a perspex cover, then there's a layer of tin-foil-esque material just underneath the label/front/whatever, that's where all the data is.

So fix the perspex cover with whatever method, and it should be fine.

Or failing that, rent that game from blockbuster and put your broken disc back in the blockbuster case and return it.

Or if you'd feel guilty doing that, rent that game from blockbuster, copy it to your Xbox's hard drive, and then your broken disc should still be okay to load up the game.

Any type of "home remedy" or cheap paste from the store won't work on severe scratches like that. You'll need disk buffers that cost hundreds of dollars (most of the $50 ones don't work or cause even more damage). Fortunately, most local Hollywood or Gamecrazy stores have these disk buffers. My local store did it for free, but some might charge you a small bit.

Yeah, thats happened to me too.
When you knock it over while there is a disk playing then the disc is just screwed.

I wouldn't recommend this. I've done it before and blockbuster charged me for breaking their game, and their charge was more than it would have cost me to buy a brand new copy of the game. Go with installing it to your hard drive.

do this, it happened to like 3 of my games and they work perfectly now, I wouldn't waste my time with any home methods.
