Should the U.S. ban Gun laws to civilians?
I'm not sure because I'm like in the middle, like people should defend them selves and without guns there would be less killings.

The entire purpose for the 2nd amendment to the U.S. Constitution was not for self defense from each other, hunting or any other little pansy excuse you can think of. The purpose of the 2nd Amendment is so we can protect ourselves from the government! If the people of a country has no means to build a force against its government they are easier to control.

It may seem crazy and conspiracy theorist but that was the primary reason the founding fathers implemented the 2nd amendment. So that the people of the U.S. could have a violent overthrow of the government if need be.

Taking things away is not the best way to run the US, that's for sure. Just look what happened when they took away our alcohol, illegal smuggling up the wazoo. Taking away gun rights will lead to more problems than they currently face

The Constitution (or rather, the Second Amendment to it) protects our right to keep and bear arms. No ruling entity may contradict that or overturn it.

This means the US Government has no right to take away our right to bear arms, and any attempts to make it difficult to obtain them will get shot down in court.

If they ban guns, then we're screwed due to the fact that when a criminal gets a gun, they can get it any way they please, but a regular law-abiding citizen would get a gun to protect themselves, so if we ban guns on law-abiding citizens, then we can just say "Hey buddy, better start digging".

Agree, that's what people don't understand about gun rights. Criminals don't legally get guns, so why limit it to law biding citizens.

It's because they did it right away. If it's done gradually (for example: first make them very hard to obtain, then restrict/ban certain military grade weapons, then the same for automatic weapons, do so for every class of weapons, until you've got nothing left, or very hard to obtain weaponry) it might work.

B) The war on Drugs failed, what makes you think we can stop gun runners

There are alot of people, myself included, that will not give up our guns unless we are dead and buried. Dont believe me? When Obama was found to have won, gun store sales went through the roof. He wasnt due to take office till the 20th of January but that didnt stop the fear from spreading. So good luck banning them.

He does have some good points. The thing is entirely influenced by the Second Amendment, which gurrantees use the right to own them. Alot of people are afraid of the other repercussions too. If they can ban one thing that the Constitution gurantees, what stops them from doing it with other things? Like the 1st or 5th amendments. Yes, a gun is a weapon, its made to hurt to kill, but many, law-abiding people use it for things like home defense, sport-shooting,etc, Entirely legal things that don't harm anyone at all.

TheReno is right, the war on drugs failed miserably, and chances are that banning guns in much the same way will too. The law doesn't mean anything to criminals, all they'll do is laugh at a new laugh while polishing their pistols. And then realize that most people they intend to victimize won't have guns, making it easier them for them commit their crimes. Gun running will become an even more profitable business then it already is. It'll simply increase crime in more ways then one.
What we need to do is keep allowing the citizens who follow the laws to have guns, we must maintain the balance of power for now. Then, we strike at the people who are supplying the guns to the other criminals, crackdown on them, treat the disease, not the symptoms.
