Is it sleep paralysis? 2009-08-07 20:36:37 Reply

Twice now I've had the experience where I wake up, face down, unable to move my arms or legs, but, as far as I know, able to move my head.

That seems more like sleep quadriplegia than paralysis, but I don't think that exists.

There is always the chance that I just imagined it. When it actually happens, I'm pretty fucking sure it is happening, and I have pretty good recall of it, unlike my dreams, but when I'm more awake I feel pretty convinced I was imagining it. Like maybe I had a numb arm and imagined the other limbs, but I dunno...

So could this be sleep paralysis, or do I have some sort of parasite which has latched on to my spine?

I've had it happen with one arm, and I freak out because I think there's someone in bed with me. Maybe your body doesn't become fully conscious all at once?

I've had that happen to me to both my arms after typing or writing too long. I get kind of freaked out about it, until I start moving around.

One arm? I've got that a few times. are you sure you're not just sleeping on your arm?

Oh yeah both times I lost feeling in my limbs, I'm pretty sure I remember waking up at some point prior the same morning with pins and needles in one of my arms. Maybe I'm sleeping unusually on all four limbs?

It's actually pretty fun if you know how to do it.

Ok, I'm going bed. If I don't come back, I'm probably lying face down on my bed in a pool of spit.

IDK. I used to get sleep paralysis a lot. I'd guess that's what is going on with you.

Sounds like it is Sleep Paralysis.

Nothing to be too worried about, I've gotten it a few times, of course, the majority of the time it's probably just mere laziness on my part.

If it keeps up, perhaps consulting a doctor would be something to think about? However, for the time being it doesn't sound to bad.

Respect, it's what I do...Then again, so is UberCream's job.

Well, as it is, it's my Summer holidays, and I'm doing absolutely fuck all. Sleeping for 10 hours a night probably makes it a more common occurrence. I had some fun dreams last night though, so I don't want to see a doctor.
