Wide Layout Bbs

When the whole site crosses over to the wider layout how will the BBS change?
I know I wouldn't want the area where you read this text to be any wider.

There isn't much worse then having to read blocks of text all the way across a wide screen moniter.
600 pixels is just about perfect for width of text.

What do you think will be added to fill the space if anything?
What would you like to see?

I keep the BBS half-sized on my screen so I can open up Flashes on the other half. So the widescreen change might screw up my Newgrounds habits.

Of course, I still have my settings set to "Classic View" for viewing flashes, so maybe I just fear change.

A lot of people are getting wider screens and Tom wants to make use of the wide screens, but if only some parts of the site were wide view, it wouldn't look very good.

The whole site will eventually be translated to the wide layout format. Tom mentioned it in a news post a while ago.

You don't really need a wide-screen layout for text, but the main benefit in mind is probably pictures. As of now, the limit for forum images is 599x700. Horizontal size is a huge limiting factor because that means even a rather small standard like 640x480 will still get resized. Vertical limit isn't usually an issue, but that can be too. The end result is if I want to even come close to posting a high-res picture, I have to upload and link it.

I remember the thread asking about people's monitor resolutions being at or above 1024x768. That's probably going to be the size of the new site layout. If so, we would be able to post standard 800x600 images, which I would love.

I definitely don't want to have the text span any more of my screen that it already does. That's just an aesthetic disaster and an inconvenience

I personally am skeptical of this wide layout. I like the layout the way it is now :I But, eh, maybe that's just resistance to change. I'll have to see how it goes before bitching.
