Left Behind is a book I've been reading for some time now

It basically condenses everything in revelation and condenses it into a series where the Rapture of the church happened "all people who believed in good and followed his word were taken to heaven and nonbelievers were left behind"

It's a pretty explosive series with good characters
I recommend the book

I never read the books, but I did see a movie which, if I'm not mistaken, was based on the book. The concept was interesting, but when I realized that the entire purpose of the movie was to scare viewers into converting to the filmmakers' brand of Christianity, I was really turned off by it.

and the purpose of the book isn't to scare people, its to tell about the end times when jesus comes back and about how the antichrist will rise up and temporarely take over the world

I didn't like it, I believe the bible is meant to be read on a spiritual level, not literal, there will be no "end of the world" just a end of "humanity", with means not death, nor destruction, but a reconnection with god, Nirvana, Logos, the 5th dimension, entering "heaven" or what ever you want to call it.

I believe revelation describes John's journey into Christ consiouness, logos, God or what ever you want to call it, the apocalypses, and Plagues representing eliminating the Idea of SELF, and flaws.

And in case you're wondering I'm a Gnostic.

I am amazed at all the scientists who think they know "facts" when their theories are not really anything more then a "best guess". And their guesses care changing all the time. God's story has not changed at all. I believe we should teach creationism in schools, it will serve more people better. Out of a high school graduation class of 1000, how many will go on to a career in science? Say that 700 of them go on to college and that 300 go into the work force. Of the 700, 100 decide they want to major in physics or chemistry. Of them 70 get weeded out. You now have 30 people who will continue. The other 970 people will be better served with an education that focuses on creationism. We are living in a time with relative ethics. We are living in an increasing secular society, where life means little. We all watched in horror as the Teri Shiavo in Florida was starved to death. That never should have happened, in the light that there is information that her husband might have beat her the night she collapsed, and the uncertainty of her wishes. Even our most prized and well written scientists believe in God. Einstein believed in God, he was quoted as saying "I want to know God's thoughts, the rest are just details".

look at there arguments, I agree with them about the literal interpretation being false, and blind faith being also being foolish, but I disagree with them about there being no "god", spirit and afterlife realms, because the God Deity people want doesn't exist, but the point of which all souls connect through Love, and Selflessness, That is god.

They aren't guesses, they are theories. And the reason theories change constantly is because as we progress technologically and scientifically, new evidence surfaces which bring about new ideas and possibilities regarding life and the universe. Yes it has. Creationists have been reworking and reinterpreting the whole 'god' thing since it began, mainly as a way of avoiding inconvenience in their everyday lives and also as a way of tapdancing around any reasoning, logic or evidence.

You completely fail to say how creationism is meant to serve people better. If you're talking about intelligence, explain the fact that religious people tend to have lower IQs than non-religious people. If you're talking about morality/crime/etc, explain the fact that areas with higher concentrations of religious interest tend to have much higher rates of violent crime, as opposed to areas with much lower religious interest. Not always, but most of the time.

But like you said, scientists' claims are unreliable because they only have "best guesses" and "theories". So even if every scientist believed in god (the actual statistic is less than half of scientists believe in god), it would still be nothing more than what you consider to be a "best guess", therefore unreliable.

It's like you're picking and choosing what to believe based on whether or not it already fits in with your overly-idealistic beliefs. A scientist says god doesn't exist? Impossible. A scientist says god does exist? OMG THIS PROOVES GOD EXISTS

btw, i've read part of the children's series and they are pretty good books. it's pretty scary to imagine some of those things actually happening.
