It's H20 but the hydrogens are deuterium (has a neutron). I don't think it's too harmful, but it's fucking expensive. i dunno how/why you'd drink it

Where on the periodic table is the element of surprise?

Also

Ca² + H2O + CO2 = CaCO3 + 2H

Sample contains 0.45 grams of Ca², how much CO2 would you need

List the possible ways to spell NAMCO using the elements in the periodic table.

It is possible.

Carbon rings with the occasional nitrogen interrupt, depending on the nucleotide, and oxygen bonded to some parts of the various rings. There's also hydrogens attached all over the place to the structure. Adenine and Thymine I believe have two rings. Overall, Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Hydrogen. DNA adds phosphate and deoxyribose sugars to the mix.

As a Biochem major I do not like this post.
1) It's adenine and guanine that have two rings. You mentioned you likes biology? then why don't you know which base pairs are formed?
2) Some rings, with nitrogen in them is, to say the least, vague. Chemistry is not vague about something like this.

On the other hand, it's a stupid question too, because typing nucleotide in google will answer itjust as well.

Nitrogen, Americium, Cobalt

or even Nitrogen, Americium, Carbon Oxygen

Assuming you wanted all caps is is not possible as there is no element "M"

I'll give you an easy one.

Calculate the molality of an antifreeze solution made by dissolving 186 grams of antifreeze in 2 kilograms of water.

Below is the formula for antifreeze.

Studying for year 12 Chemistry exams at the moment (Well... kinda of studying... as close as you can get while on New Grounds), so let me see if I can think of anything...

When potassium permanganate solution is mixed with ethanoate will the solution discolour? (one I constantly am forgetting.)

Also, in an element has a no electrons missing from the 4p orbital, and three from the 3d orbital, and only two electrons are exposed to it, how many will be in the 4p orbital after reaction?

And thus defy, the tyrannous stars...
(P.S. Ignore the mail watermark for now, I'll be removing it soon!)

some of these calculation ones might be wrong, but it's 4AM after all :p

Canas - about .48 grams worth
Davaca - My mistake on Thymine. But seriously, how would YOU describe nucleotides then? They're just 1/2 rings with nitrogen and shit embedded.
DrHood - ~1.6 M
Wedgeman - I'm only going to deal with the orbital question because the other one I don't happen to know. I think 3d(5) is more stable... but er. That was a good question - sticking with both electrons going into 3d
Waterbeast - sulfuric acid
DVsilverwing - I'm pretty sure uranium, but yeah, uncertainty.
Quagmire690 - any noble gas should be uber unreactive. Halogen gases like chlorine gas should be reactive (hydrogen gas too)... theres no "most reactive gas" because it depends what you're reacting it with. The longest chemical chain I'd imagine would be a huge piece of plastic, since they're polymers.

Are you aware that virtually all of chemistry comes from electrons, which is characterized by quantum mechanics? The periodic table is based on electron configurations, which is based on quantum numbers. The so called "electron pushing diagrams" you see in Organic chemistry is all based on the movement of electrons. Start learning more about wave functions with electrons. As a chemist, quantum is your supreme ruler.

Nuclear science actually does play a big part in chemistry! Everything that happens in chemistry, happens because of nuclear properties.

Ok then smart ass, try this!

1 a) What do we mean by the rate of a chemical reaction?

b) Give two everyday examples of:

i. A very fast reaction
ii.A slow reaction

c. What are the two aspects of a chemical reaction which can be used to measure the rate?

2. Three different chemical reactions are given below:

Calcium carbonate with hydrocholoric acid
Magnesium Ribbon with sulphuric acid
Sodium thiosulphate with hydrochloric acid.

Suggest a way in which the rate of each reaction might be measured.
