I'm quitting Firefox. 2009-08-02 15:32:28 Reply

However much I will miss it (extensions, familiarity, etc) I'm going to stop using Firefox.

"Why" you ask? Well, ever since I updated from Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 to Firefox 3.5 it refuses to load a handful of pages and it seems to get worse and worse, it started off with just Youtube, it just stood at the loading screen, it just stayed white or at whatever website I was on beforehand, it also refused to load embedded Youtube videos, recently it started effecting Amazon, another one of my most viewed sites, this annoyed me, but not as much as it did with Youtube, pretty pissed at firefox at that point, but now, this is the final straw...

Google... Yes, Google, it doesn't load Google, do you have any idea how infuriating it is to not be able to use Google? so fucking bad, I don't want to use Yahoo or Ask, I want Google. So guys, I'm quitting Firefox until a fix is found or it's updated, because this is so fucking annoying.

Gonna use Google Chrome I reckon, but I hear Oprah (sp?) is the best browser out there.

Oprah? LOL. Opera, buddy.

Anyway, I never really had these problems. Firefox has been running BETTER for me since the last update. It can be a resource hogger, are you sure you have enough RAM to comply with its power hungry needs?

Odd, seeing that Firefox apparently works for everyone here.

Haha, Oprah. What version of Oprah do you have?

Might want to try cleaning your computer up a bit so it can be much faster, it works for me - since my computer sucks ass lol. Uninstall some unused programs too, and try avoiding so many tabs.

4GB of RAM.

Oprah? LOL. Opera, buddy.

And I put "Oprah (sp?)" meaning I wasn't sure of its spelling, sorry grammar nazi.

Interesting Theory, too bad I've Googled it and found that other people are suffering from the problem, and only 3 sites being effected? Get real, I'm on a wired 10Mb connection with no-one else hogging it.

It works fine for me. Out of curiosity, why were you dicking around with the beta using your main profile?

I wasn't "dicking around" I used it as my main browser shortly after I went from Firefox 2.7ish to 3.0, the 3.1beta thing wont be related.

Chill the fuck out, man. I'm trying to help you here. The only things I can really suggest to you are:

-To uninstall and reinstall firefox followed by a restart. Make sure you delete the "Mozilla Firefox" (something that looks like that) folder in Program Files.
-Run Firefox in safe mode.
-Google your problem and try reading threads that have found a fix. If there aren't none then you should just switch to another browser for the time being.

Oh and by the way, that had nothing to do with grammar. It was a spelling mistake on your end. Or have you not been paying attention in school to know the difference?

I've had some issues with betas in the past, usually to do with profiles and updates and had to do some reinstalls or make new beta profiles so it could be related. I'd give advice but Neenja-SkLz's is good enough.

If you had the add-on "Fasterfox" installed with your Firefox then that's what's causing your problems; had that problem a while ago and rooted-out that useless add-on.

Done this several times, installed both 3.5 and 3.0, neither seem to work correctly.

-Run Firefox in safe mode.

Also tried, still nothing, the same problem occurs

-Google your problem and try reading threads that have found a fix. If there aren't none then you should just switch to another browser for the time being.

As I said in the main post, I've googled it and found only others user with this problem, but no solution.

I'm sorry I don't know the spelling to an internet browser which only 2% of computer owners use.

By the way I was brought out and only knowing the vague pronunciation of "Opera" I guessed the spelling based of off my knowledge of grammar, seriously, try to be nicer about things instead of pulling out the whole "LOL it's spelt "opera"".

I had firefox 3.something on my laptop and it sucked, so I uninstalled it and went back to the previous version I had.

You could either go back to the previous version of Firefox and or just switch over to IE or Google Chrome until they release a fix.

Cheers to unexpected firefox issues mate.

Are you sure it's not your Internet connection? Are you using the Internet way too soon after booting up your computer? Maybe you have Vista. Firefox 3.5 has its issues, but it's usable. Best of the worst.

Try uninstalling all of your add-ons until it works right. Also, re-install your flash player. Flash 10 is a resource hog and, currently, doesn't work worth a crap.

I dont even.

Similar thing happened to me, I was having several of the sites I view often load partially and after about 45 seconds finish loading the page, it took a few days and a good bit of computer anti-virus scans and it started working again. So maybe switch over to something else for a few days and try again.

Seriously, who even reads these things anymore?

It's probably not firefox at all. Maybe one of your plug ins is outdated, in which, you should search for a help forum and post your problems there. They can help you fix it.
