I might go and see it, but it better not turn into another cloverfield or quarantine.

hopefully it should be good.

1. "Oh, I can't wait til twilight! I read the book it's so good!!!"
2. "Wow. That movie was cool."
3. "Dude, the hype's over. No need to pretend you like twilight just because you payed way too much money for it when you watched it before the premiere."
4. "Twilight sucked."
5. "..."
6. "???"
7. "PROFIT!"

There, fixed.

Also, I'll probably go see this movie in a bit with a friend, or something.

It looks like an excellent film.

Cloverfield may have been over-hyped, but I still thought it was a great film.

its a technique i fully admire actually. good movie or bad.

if its a good movie it keeps a sense of suspense and thrill before you even see the movie.

if its a bad movie, less details of its sub-parness will be known. and the movie will look good.

its a bastard tatic, and a brilliant one at that.

its like Lex Luthor is making these ads.

Actually those are Teaser Trailers. Point of course is to tease the audience, making them want more, making them have to wait, which makes the hype bigger then it should be. All of course to get people to see this movie because all movie companies really want is your money.

District 9 was sort of born out of Halo. Neil Blomkamp and Peter Jackson and company did a bunch of pre-production for a Halo movie, but were basically told not to do it anymore. They then utilized a lot of that previous work to begin working on District 9. The concept looks a lot different, but I'll be interested to see if there are any noticeable connections. It should be a good movie in its own right.

It is a really original idea, well kind of. While I suppose it is a little like Cloverfield, I think once it comes out, there won't be any comparison.

All the films I have seen from Peter Jackson are very interesting. Well not King Kong so much, but Dead Alive and the Lord of the Rings trilogy blew my mind consecutive times.

I am a new terror born in death, a new superstition entering the unassailable fortress of forever. I am legend.

It does look interesting, in that the aliens don't want to fight. In the trailer he says "please we just want to go home".

I like peaceful aliens.

Hmm..that doesn't really make any sense. Planet of the apes was about apes taking over the world and taking humans as slaves. It's the complete opposite in District 9...

This movie I predicted months ago would be the 'summer movie' of this year. No chance of failure. Me and a few friends are looking forwards to seeing this when it comes out.

Sad thing is, this year has had only 5 real good movies come out. One of them is Watchmen which I STILL don't see how other people don't like it. I mean seriously, if a man's penis is that annoying it's simple: Don't look at it. I was watching the film and I was like 'why are dudes staring down THERE when there's more of a view of his body'.

This year has had more humanism in films than I have seen in recent memory. District 9 and Watchmen are prime examples. The anger and inner good and question in Watchmen with how Dr. Manhattan stook out like a sore thumb because of his 'God-like' power that he possessed, he was subject to matter. The aliens in District 9 are treated like blacks were, and in some cases are. Visionary films like these are what makes me want to go into film someday.

I saw it advertised, and there was a billboard with a number to phone and report aliens, I thought it was real so I called it, but it was a fake phone number, I won't be going to the movie because of that. They could have made the number at least real... Fucking bullshit.

I'm talking about the fourth film which shows how the apes came to power by overthrowing their human masters and reversing the roles.

God damn a fair number of posts in this thread are ridiculously stupid. Due to this I have not read half of the thread.

The movie looks good, Peter Jackson is producing and it is being directed by Neill Blomkamp.
Now from what I know Neill isn't that big of a director but the work I have seen by him has been excecuted quite well.
Even though all that work was under 10 minutes.
Now I am highly interested in this film for it brings to light real issues with a bit of an exaggerated setting.
Also I suggest all of you go watch Alive in Joburg considering that was the original film by Neill Blomkamp that District 9 is based on.

For those of you bitching about hype, get over it. A lot of films that are hyped end up being shit but a lot of films that are hyped can also end up matching expectations.

It looks like it's trying to be a comedy with the advertisements, but the movie trailers make it look like a horror movie.

1 trailer is more of a depiction of the films social commentary and the other shows off the action.
I don't see the horror in that unless you're just generally scared by black people and funny accents.
And the static advertisements are part of an alternate reality game.
ffffffffffffffffffff
