Just finished taking up all the carpet from the upstairs and downstairs and we've knocked out a chunk of the wall so that it'll open up space.

The part we knocked out was actually a door that led to the basement.

It took up about 10 sq ft which even though isn't too much it actually makes the entire condo look a ton bigger. Here's a few pics. All the carpeting and underlying foam was taken out and will be thrown out tomorrow.

Just bought a condo.

1,300 Sq Ft.

Finished basement.

Here's what it looks like from the outside.

That's a really ugly house. It's a shame people have to live in such poverty...

It's not a house, it's a condo. Second, it may not be all that but it's mine and that's all that matters to me.

It looks like a two story house. Depending where you live. We live in Fisher Island. My parent owns a penthouse in Aventura, FL. Also a townhouse in Boca Raton, FL. The one in Aventura is called "The Atrium" and the one in Boca Raton is called "Trieste". We have a staircase that leads to our own private roof section in the penthouse.

IMO It's really ugly, good luck on the resale.... Things to consider before you buy is the resale value. Location is very important too.

What are you talking about? I bought a foreclosed condo for well under 50,000 while all the non-foreclosed ones are selling in the 100,000's. Second of all, no shit it's ugly, which is why renovation is being done.

Do you still live with your parents? Until you have enough money and work ethic to move out, do renovations, pay for insurance, condo association fees, taxes, car payments etc. Then come talk to me, in the meanwhile, try to not to troll. It's pretty obvious you know little to nothing about what I'm doing nor what kind of area this condo is in OR the resale value it will have once renovation is done.

Thanks.

Just bought a condo.

Thanks.

The area looks pretty awful. It's not even gated. Once you are going to try to resell it, you will know that I was and still am right. You seem you are American, that is what a person calls a two story home, like the one you purchased. The taxes and associatio fees can vary depending on your contract.

I have enough money to live off after medical school. I am planning on becoming a surgeon in Holy Cross hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. We come from two different worlds and what I see is not what you see.

What do you mean it's not gated? It's a private property and anyone trespassing can be punished under the law. I don't see the logic in your comment.

Wrong, I'm 100% Bosnian born and raised. I came here when I was 5 years old but am fluent in Polish, Bosnian, German, and English. Don't always assume things. You should know how well Europeans, especially Slavs, do with real estate and with renovations in general.

Homes are generally considered where you live, not the particular property you live it. A house and condo are different, however a home and a condo can be the same thing.

that is what a person calls a two story home, like the one you purchased. The taxes and association* fees can vary depending on your contract.

Yep, and what is your point?

I have enough money to live off after medical school. I am planning on becoming a surgeon in Holy Cross hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. We come from two different worlds and what I see is not what you see.

So why don't you move out now? What's stopping you? Oh wait, you can't because it's easy to lie on the internet.

We come from two different worlds sure, but my facts don't change. The resale value of my condo is astronomical seeing as how the economy, (especially in Michigan, where I live) is terrible, and yet these condos are selling for higher amounts than some 5 bedroom houses. You don't know anything about the area or home values in the area. Stop before your ditch becomes too deep, which is already approaching bottomless pit levels.

That looks quite lovely and homey fine sir, I'm sure you've made a great purchase on a sound home. Good luck with the renovations and such dude.

Congratulations, looks like a nice place.

You must either be stingy, great at investing, in possession of a cushy job, of a hefty loan, or of some particularly generous progenitors. In any case, sounds like lot of work went into the purchase of this place -- I hope that it's an enjoyable domicile, that it's worth the price of admission, and that you didn't paint yourself into a financial corner in your desire to own it; after all, too many disengaged, disinterested people buying homes they couldn't afford was the cause of this whole recession in the first place.

Nice place man. Honestly I would turn the basement into some sort of party room when I had the funds to do so. Pool table and all. Have fun with your new place my man.

Thanks Bolo, one of the few users I actually respect. I didn't take out a loan, it was actually money from the government because I was a refugee during wartime and it was put into a trust fund for me. The entire condo is paid off, all I have to worry about is the taxes, association fees, and utilities. Also, no I'm not in any debt and I most certainly will be buying some NG merchandise to to fill up my office!
