I have this idea of making instrumental songs that tell a story through the notes. Example- a girl is having a nice life when all of the sudden she gets killed (awful example but whateva) and how I would tell that is like is really happy notes and then all of the sudden really sad and scary ones. I would pretty much have to write lyrics out but have no vocals. It's pretty much like music without vocals but still lyrics. I feel like some people may prefer no vocals and just imagining the story in their head. But people would have to read the lyrics. What do you think about it?

I expect they would need lyrics. my sister always had to tell me what the song means, or now i just google it.

It's called Opera, Rock-Opera, or a Ballad.

What a shame, Mister Jensen.
I never asked for this, Mister Denton.

Yes, you definitely came up with this idea.
Go listen to some classical music. In fact, even modern music like Pink Floyd incorporates emotion into instrumentals, Echoes, being a prime example.

I did laugh at "girl was having a nice life and then she died"

I thought Opera was just singing? This idea is meant to have no singing.

That was the premise music was based on in the first place.

I don't listen to Opera, but as far as I know Operas tell stories.

You have Musicals too.

But Opera has vocals. Musicals do too.(I don't know if all of them do)

In that case, it's all a matter of perspective. An instrumental could mean a different thing to anyone, it's really all how you perceive it. Granted, if there's a lot of minor notes, most people will agree it sounds sad but not everyone will agree on a plot of it there is one at all.

Then you go off and see some classical music. Some of those told a story. There's hundreds out there, you just gotta dig it.

You're silly when you're intoxicated.

It's kinda hard to keep with the grammar, but I'll be alright.

I've thought about that a lot, too.

As a guitarist who cannot sing, I've needed to find a way to get the point across.

Yeah. The only song I can think of that comes close to telling a story is Mozart's Bagatelle.

And I don't even really imagine a story, but more of an image. When I hear it I think of someone playing a pinball table.
