The ignorance of some 2004-02-04 02:08:53 Reply

Just the other night, I submitted an anti-Bush/anti-War flash to newgrounds stating several facts. Now, I was expecting a healthy dose of negative criticism, as anyone should who speaks out in these post-9/11, Iraq "war" times.

What I wasn't ready for was the COMPLETE ignorance of some of the reviewers. Of course, there were the "u are evil u mis informed hippy" and the "Get your ass off newgrounds you leftist bastard", but I can honestly say I wasn't ready for one review in particular where the reviewer honestly thought that Saddam Hussein was responsible for September 11th and that all 19 hijackers were from Iraq (at least that's what I've gathered, the review isn't entirely ledgible).

I was really shocked by this. I don't know the age of the reviewer, but I don't think any age could be an excuse. Where can a society go so wrong that there are people out there so brainwashed and ready to defend something that they don't even know what they're talking about?

Anyway, if you want to see the submission and read some of the reviews, here's the link: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view.php?id=148510

Haha, yes.

I suppose it could be scary if the plan was on paper and he folded it into a paper airplane and threw it at someone.

I just wonder WHY people write things like that, it only makes their cause seem like shit, and people ignore them.

I was wondering where you got your statistics on unemployment. You claim that the unemployment is the highest since the great depression. My statistics, from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that while unemployment has risen, it is lower than the unemployment in 1982 where it was at 9.7% (2003 data shows 6%)

Nice work on the flash, I wish I could make something like that; except I wouldn't be an evil mis informed hippy so it would be way better ;-b

We live in a culture of idiocy. I lean to the conservative side of politics, but I don't like people who use emotions to judge an not there mind. Everyone should be civil to each other.

Interesting points. I agree with them... But the problem withpeople is that they seem to resist facts being sunk into their heads.
Such as the US at one time supported Saddam and gave him weapons...
That sort of think... -_-

It's the truths that aren't told, that tell more than the ones that are.

TRUE - Saddam started a war on Iran and killed millons.
TRUE - America supported said war.

Ho hum.

People are quick to complain and point fingers when they don't know what's going on; quick to think someone else is at fault.

I've received some pretty bad reviews, although they weren't based on my political views. It was based on the fact that some people don't believe the same idea can come out of two people:

Kyle, you must be a real pussy to lie about something like this. But don't worry, you'll find a real man to be your daddy one day.

I guess this is just the bane of the flash user.

Dr. Arbitrary, thank you for bringing this to my attention. It appears I was wrong. I could have sworn that months ago I read and article that briefly mentioned the unemployment rate being the highest since the Great Depression, but according to this, that is untrue (though the rate is currently at 7.4% as of Jan. '04). Maybe I misread, maybe the article was inaccurate (doubtful), or maybe I read it wrong. It's possible it said the number of people unemployed was the highest since the GD(the population grows quite a bit in 22 years). I don't know the answer for certain.

Thank you for pointing that out to me, however. Maybe I should have researched that myself before going off on someone again. I apologize for that. However, it still stand that the rate has increased dramatically since Bush came into office. 3.3 million job losses is a few too many to not give a shit about.

Again, thanks.

Yes I agree that there are dumb little turds out there who are uneducated about their surroundings. They are only driven by blind stupidity. Just keep your head up high and stand up for your opinions, it's the only way to advance in life.

That "get your leftist ass off newgrounds" part really gets me. There is something about Newgrounds that seems quite leftist. Maybe I'm just getting the wrong impression, but I have been wasting my time here for around 4 years.

That quote bothered me, too (and no, not just because it was directed at me). Newgrounds gets attention from an extremely wide variety of people, but I don't know that I'd say the site leans towards the left of things. I recall an uncreative flash a few weeks ago that involved someone playing an FPS and killing Howard Dean clones and shooting out monitors that said "GAY PORN" and people went apeshit over it. All the reviews were positive, saying "Kill that fucking bastard", etc. I was surprised that such a shitty flash would get such a high score... Which told me that there were quite a few die-hard Bush supporters on NG.

But I don't know for sure, if NG gives out those vibes to you, it probably gives them out to others as well.

Question-Why is the unemployment rate so low?
Is it because of jobs being shipped out overseas? Bush's trickle down policies NOT being effective...?
And also, if there is an increase of jobs what sort of jobs are increasing? Good paying jobs or just supermarket, fast food service jobs?

This is the way I see it.

Smart/Independant thinkers: believe that lies or immoral actions caused my USA under bush's controll were commited.
May believe various theories including either of these:
-usa could be controlled by unseen party (illuminati, zionists, the patriots, forein country ect..)
-usa's decisions are run by corporations and profits
-bush is a very bad president and needs to be replaced

Dumb/Narrow minded or non-thinkers: Watch CNN, the #1 news source that they think cant lie, support bush and think anyone who thinks otherwise hates america and is a nazi/commie/hippie/terrorist/cultist or whatever they can think of.
-dont back anything up, assume they're right, swear alot.

This applies to most people ive seen, I know theres people out there who dont apply, like a smart bush supporter or stupid anti-bush guy.

First, our unemployment rate isn't low. As of latest reports, it's at 7.4%.

If you meant to say "so high", then I think you could attribute it to Bush's trickle down policies not working. He should have learned from Reagan that all they do is make the rich richer and push the country into deeper debt.

And honestly, I don't know the answer to increasing jobs. I would suspect that if jobs are to be increased somehow, they would most likely be lower-paying jobs like road repair, preservation activities (not that Bush cares about preservation), etc. I don't really know enough about that, I guess I need to read some more.

Hope I could answer something...

That would explain the one with Howard Dean's head exploding. That was utter shit. I don't care which side of the politics you're on, I can't understand why someone would like something so unoriginal and low-quality.
