Since being introduced to the internet, I have become more intelligent.

Yeah, its okay. I never use those anyway. Even in texts. I actually spell everything out. It may be hell, but at least I dont make a retard of my self.

Technology mainly texting has kicked off a major change in how people type. I cant understand some of my daughters messages the abbreviations are ridiculous. Im not unintelligent by any means but it annoys me that she doesn't seem to have the time to use proper english. Looking at her Bebo is the same she said its just how we all talk to eachother online. She does well in school though and is good at writing so it isn't having any other effect. If she starts talking in abbreviations outside then ill worry.

Somewhere between 3rd grade and getting on the internet, kids forgot how to spell the language they speak.

It's so they can get a message out in the public quicker, even if it saves them only a few milliseconds.

They shorten the words so they can type them faster. I'm pretty sure they know how to spell the words...

I agree it is like this whole generation now is so lazy and not brite that it just uses nonsense to communicate.

I agree with you there. It is like the need a dictionary in front of them to know what something is. Even then they might not get it.

I think people who bitch about this kinds of stuff is worse

But then again in the age of the internet, if you don't know something you can just check it on wikipedia, nothing is in need of remembering anymore, so you may or may not be right.
