I used to have XP and Vista dual booted because i needed Vista features and compatibilty but i couldnt use flash on vista because it was slow and crashed like hell. Now that i got 7 i can stay on the same OS !
I keep my taskbar up top because i constantly need to go to the timlene in flash and i dont want to be randomly clickin shit, plus i find it less distracting dont know why .

I'll join.

I'm currently triple-booting between Windows7 B7600 64x, OSX Snow Leopard 64x and Linux Ubuntu 9.06 64x.

My main rig is as follows:
CPU - Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz [OC 4.2GHz]
MB - EVGA X57 SLI LE LGA1366
RAM - Corsair Dominator 6GB (3 x 2GB) 1866MHz DDR3 [OC 2166MHz]
GPU - EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB [Don't game anymore, PS3 for that]
PSU - Rocketfish 700-Watt
HDD - WD CaviarBlack 1TB x2 [Raid-0], WD Caviar Green 1TB x1.
CSE - Antec Twelve Hundred
HS - Xigmatek THOR'S HAMMER
FAN - Scythe 3000RPM "ULTRA KAZE" x2
ROM - Samsung SH-S223B
Monitor - Samsung SyncMaster 2443BW 24" 1920x1200

And on my Vaio FW; I'm running Windows7 B7600 64x and Linux Ubuntu 9.05 64x.

If anyone calls bluff on running Snow Leopard on a Core i7; you're wrong. It's just not for the fainted hearted. I mainly have it for lulz.

What I like to do with the majority of my time is: Shredding, Sketching, Sleeping. Thread for Rigz. Thread for Shredz.

Haha, nice. :p
I put my taskbar on the left. Since my laptop screen is fairly wide, and all. I also find it's easier to right click on the icons, and use the menu for them.

I for one hate the collapsed start menu. The only difference is on Vista, I could figure out how to set it up the old way, where you scroll over programs and all your programs listed out on the right side, then when you scrolled over the folders in your programs, it'd open up seperate boxes for them. I can't figure that shit out with Windows 7 at all. Any of you guys who like the old set up better figure out how to format it that way, or are we just stuck with the stupid everything in that first box thing?

I happen to find Windows 7 more stable and easier to run than that accursed abortion known as Vista. But like yourself, the default start bar and task grouping isn't really my cup of tea. I've started to try to configure it a little more like the "classic" windows version, and I'm only about halfway there.

But as others have said in prior posts, you can do quite a bit of customizing. The trick is to know where to go and how to get there to do the tweaks. If I have any epiphanies, I'll gladly share them with you.

I think I know what you want help with. So do this.
Right click on the taskbar > Properties > Check "Use small icons" > Taskbar Buttons: Never Combine OR Combine when taskbar is full

Hope that helps.

I don't have Windows 7 myself, but one of my friends has the Ultimate Edition. It seems alright, but I'm much more fond of Mac's Snow Leopard which I started using about 3 weeks ago. I have been considering using Boot Camp to get a copy of Windows 7 on my Mac, although I don't think Apple are officially supporting it yet, but they have said they will be by the end of the year.

Main reason that I want a copy of Windows on my Mac is for the games. My last laptop ran on Vista and it wasn't the best for playing games on and now this MacBook pro has about twice the power so it should be all good.

Not to mention that I can get a copy of WIndows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate for £30. Quite a tempting offer.

Windows 7 shines in every category. They really took the time to work on the little things (shortcuts, menus, designs, etc), and the big things(compatibility, etc).

Also, interesting article from Lifehacker

Ah, a neat little program I found for Windows 7. It's called "Connectify"
"Turn your Windows 7 laptop into a WiFi Hotspot to share the internet with friends, co-workers, and mobile devices."
http://www.connectify.me/

Check it out! I couldn't get it working though. :(
Wasn't compatible with my network card.

Wow! Thats very nice. I suppose I was put off by the task bar. It seems too ugly. However, it has already been addressed in this thread, so therefore....that leaves me no reason to NOT install Windows 7.

However, if I may ask....Did you guys have any trouble with drivers? or did Windows 7 find them for you automatically?

I'm not gay.....But my boyfriend is! :3

It automatically found the ones I needed, like the network driver, etc. The only other driver I installed on 7 was the one for my sound-card. It still had sound, and worked more than fine. Just thought I should install the driver for it. :p

I got Windows 7, and I've been using it since the RC. It's excellent, better than even XP.

Hey, wow, and I thought I was the only one who moved the taskbar to the left side of the screen! It really is more space-efficient on the side, isn't it?
