I just don't want to be know as "that user," if you know what I mean. The one that people attempt to tolerate because I've been here for a while, but are unsuccessful.
I want people to respect me. Not because of my stats, but because I've earned it (if I have). Of course, I think there should be a level of respect for everyone whether they are new to the forum or tightly held within the community, as long as they can live up to it. That's all I aim for. I don't really need popularity, though it must be a nice feeling for those that are, and I don't aim for it. I simply attempt to make myself into a respectable user. Whether I've achieve that or not, I suppose, is subjective.
Of course. I do agree with you, and I think it works out better for most of us than some think. There is popularity, like you point out, but I too would just prefer to know I'm respected even the slightest bit. I mean, I think that the more "popular" you are, then you're going to have more people to take the fun away from you (see various mods for examples, or possibly the bitching in the Stickam thread; I know a lot of the regs around there are considered popular for various reasons). Haterz, maybe? That's what I can personally take out of these awards and it's worked out well for me. It's just a shame that I can't nominate everyone I've come to find funny or interesting over the past half-year. Anyway, this closes my ramblings from last night, haha.
For the record, I think you're a good user. I believe I've talked to you in the Stickam room before, you've been around... and it seems you've tried to help this whole Davidzx thing a little bit. I'm not getting started on that, but that stuff in brief works for me.

It would have only been funny if the real dickneck was posting that here but he wasn't. It was another user making an alt, so it was a major trolling fest for him, and yet we praise that?
It was shit really, the funny went out of that thread long before it was locked.
I have mixed feelings about this new Best Thread award. I see lots of threads that make me laugh for the most random reasons, and I see plenty of threads that interest me... even to the point where I'll see a recommendation and then go off to find more material on it. It's hard for me to really boil it down to one thread. Even after all of that, I could just say the Open Discussion thread or something! Sarcastic humour, silly things that interest me, drama I have nothing to do with... they tend to be listed as ingrediants for a good BBS read.
I voted for the beast awakens, and I was struggling to decide really. I don't think I ever read all of it actually. citricsquid's thread is pretty cool, but I've not really checked out proper yet. Yeah, I was lazy before I voted on this topic.
We will see next time. Indeed, indeed.
