Anyone else notice that about 2/3 of the nominators so far have left the 'rookie of the year' award blank?

I mean, I know this place is terrible for recognising people without the help of huge post counts and insane sign-up dates, but I never guessed it was THAT bad! Do so few people actually pay attention to recent users around here?

What's worse is that, of those that have nominated someone, most of them have simply gone for Krev just because she was the only one suggested in the first place. Now don't get me wrong, it's not like she doesn't deserve it or anything (she IS one of the better ones), but there's more than just her here with an '09 sign-up, and it's obvious from the number of people who spelled the name wrong / added "or whatever the name was" on the end of the post that most have no idea what her posting is like (or even that it's a 'her').

Are we really that blind to newcomers here?

I know of some 09 users, but I wouldn't know who to nominate. The only person that sticks out in my mind besides Krev is SeaBoundRhino, but I don't know.

I'm completely the same. I'm always stressly to people about how lame it is to judge based on sign up dates so I never take notice myself. The fact is I couldn't think of a single 09 when I did my noms, so I had to look around. When the voting thread comes around I'll be sure to look at the peoples posting history to see how they actually are, and might even know their name, just don't at the top of my head.
