Don't vote, then. I haven't voted in these things for years, because they have essentially outlived their own usefulness. Clearly, they were imagined in 2003 or so to be a great encouragement, an incentive to post well and often, and to get yourself noticed, while at the same time giving the forum a good name and a formidable reputation for excellence. I don't think anyone on the forum today will argue that the awards were successful in that regard, given the degeneration which we witness on a daily basis, and given the fact that the awards are handed out to ever-more-undeserving users simply based on their popularity and ability to post in great quantity, rather than fermenting their ideas in thought before presenting them.
So why, if the awards' purpose has been proven ineffectual by years of experimentation, should one continue to vote at all?
