So I'm watching Watchmen and I must say, they made it more violent then the actual book! Peoples hands and body parts getting blown to pieces, flesh and bone visible, I mean Zack Snyder is a sicko. Have you ever seen a film that made you cringe at the sit of blood and guts and shit like that. A film that just goes way to far...

More gore is very often a gimmick to make up for bad films. If there's lots of gore coupled with good action and story, then it can lead to a better film.

Hostel was actually hilarious when I watched it. There was one scene were a lady gets her Eye pulled out and the guy cuts it off and cheesy goo comes out of her eyes.

Watchmen was and is nothing compared to some of the things you would consider revolting I have seen on the internet.
If you like gore then you should find a film called Dead Set. It's basically the reality show Big Brother but with zombies. There's some truly awesome deaths in it. It is a bit short though, but they're only BB contestants after all :P
And there's some epic but brief side boob.

If I had to chose between gore and plot for instance I'd probably go for plot, once you've seen one guy with a testicle popped open you've seen them all, but it's the manner that leads up to this mutilation and the suspense surronding it that makes a great film. Like the Hostile movies for example.
Blockbuster films such as Rambo and Watchmen use gore as a gimmick, but when it's done right it can be fucking fantastic.
