3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsIf you threw into a pot some decaying material, feces, and any other unsanitary and disgusting thing together, there is a small chance that within time, you will create some sort of modified or new virus cell (sort of like how the swine flu was created.) Adding more stuff, and continually doing it over a period of time will only increase the chances of it being created.
Scientists believe the same sort of thing will happen in the internet world. As tons of information, apps, new technology, programs, etc are combined in the internet world, there will be a chance for a new super virus to be created. Possibly a virus that will have enough information and knowledge to know what it is doing, and will have the power to modify itself to protect it from being deleted or stopped. Isn't that scary?
No. Then the /b/tards and hackers of the world will fight to save the Interwebs (aka their only life) and find a program to stop the virus
I fear for future generations

The scary part is the "super virus" gets smarter and smarter as it collects data from the internet, and it has the power to control just about everything that's connected online.
That's like saying that if you watch the static on a TV for long enough, an entire episode of Happy Days is bound to eventually materialize.
It IS possible, but it will take an indefinite amount of time to happen.

No, nothing like that. Technology advances quickly over time, sort of like how the unsaitary materials I was talking about quickly changes chemically over time. The static on the TV doesn't advance, merely changes its appearance.

You're safe from viruses, but you're not safe from the fact that you own a shitty, overpriced computer.

Aye, fight and I may die. Run and i will live, at least a while. And dieing in my bed many years from now, I would be willing to trade all the days from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell you: You may take my life, but you will never take my Internet!
I am the coolest Otaku you will ever meet.

You're saying that if you throw a bunch of shit in a pot, you might get a virus. That's nothing like saying that technology advances, so you can program a new supervirus.
It would be more fitting to say genetically engineering biological viruses will advance over time, so that eventually we'll have an unstoppable epidemic.

That's just the Monkeys and Shakespeare thing all over again... But I doubt that will happen unless you mean in black and white. I Love Lucy would be more likely

We must call the right man.

You laughing at me? YOU LAUGHING AT THE BEST!
However, no matter what the virus can do, Madagascar will be safe.
Damn them...

I see what you did there. But if it's smart, it will keep low visibility until it infects one computer, then spring up and kill every computer
I fear for future generations
Madagascar would be immune
Couldn't we just turn off the internet, and check every computer to see if it has it.
I'm glad I use a DSi instead.
Can those get infected too?
Viruses don't create themselves. Viruses are made. By people. You fail!
I hate Poozy.
Sadly, while the theory that you can add several volatile chemicals into a pot and you could create a pandemic is true, the chances of it happening are slim. Even if given an indefinite peiod of time.
The chance that the programs from the internet may come together and fit together like pieces in a puzzle and create an artificially intelligent virus is slimmer than that. More likely, the super-virus will attempt to form, but more than one of the programs is going to conflict with each other, and not provide the virus with what it needs, resulting in it's downfall or the creation of an incredibly inept, yet powerful virus. "Inept", as in, reveal itself to every computer on the planet, so it can be crushed by Bill Gates.

Cant someone send a virus to the sattelite we get the internet from?
I'm sure there's at least one programmer reading this who's crying over the lack of logic.

He said THE INTERNET, not Windows.
Well, thing is...
If that actually happened, /b/tards would take delight in spreading it about and causing chaos...
People would revel in destroying the internet...

Reminds me of the corrupted blood plague on World Of Warcraft.
Some ass discovered how to take this disease outside a specific area using his pet. This disease was meant to cripple higher level characters. For newbs, this disease was lethal. This disease was passed on by merely standing near to someone.
It started off slow with a few deaths, then people decided to spread it around a bit, purposely infecting as many people as possible.
After a couple of days, you couldn't go into a main city without being infected... And for miles around the main cities, you could find hundreds of corpses of players who had been wiped out in seconds...
Just proves. When there is some sort of virtual virus, that will cause no real harm to your health, people can and will spread it.
For the lulz.
