Though many in the intelligence community believe he is dead, they can't be 100 percent certain because no body or DNA evidence was recovered to prove it, one official said."
So it looks like they're still continuing war against Al-Qaeda, but could this be one of the first steps toward Afghanistan?

Quoted from MSNBC article.
"Two bin Laden sons have long been identified as al-Qaida fighters: Saad and Mohamed, the third- and sixth-oldest sons, according to U.S. officials."
Saad is the one who was supposedly killed.

Its still sad....we may demonize this man, but his fucking son died...that cannot be easy on anyone.
I'm not saying we should give up entirely...but this shit is getting senseless.

His terrorist group killed many sons and many daughters in 9/11.
Come on.
I would have a different opinion if it was a son who didn't want to be like his father. But this one is part of the group, so no sympathy towards him.

It seems the son who was killed was a terrorist himself, but even though we "demonize" Osama Bid Laden...I am conflicted on this, I hate to see bloodshed. However, if they shed blood, their blood shall be shed.
I am still conflicted, if this a victory in our books. Then again they are not 100% sure since they do not have a body or DNA evidence, so who knows. However if he is dead, I know not to count this as a victory in the books.
Woo.

We killed many e sons and daughters in all our wars, iraq too. Everyone has blood on their hands.

I don't like death, war and destruction. Two wrongs don't make a right, etc. The son could have very well been brainwashed by the father, as happens quite alot. I've sympathy for everyone in this whole mess.

Sa'ad bin Osama bin Muhammad bin 'Awad bin Laden is or.. well, was an Al-Quaida fighter. He fought for what he believed in, and he died for what he believed in.
just because you see the word "son" do not assume he was some 12 year old kid. He was a 30 year old man.

Yeah but we don't actively try to do it to civilians.

Regardless of if he was "brainwashed" it wouldn't justify his actions. If he was our enemy then it isn't tragic. Tragic is the death of innocent bystanders, not people who are willingly putting their lives on the line.

Yes it is, its tragic that we should have enemies, its tragic that we cannot be at peace.
I'm very much against the idea that our enemies dying isn't tragic, their still people after all.

What do you mean by one of the first steps toward Afghanistan?
Are you trying to say the first steps towards winning the war against terrorists (such as Al-Quaeda) in Afghanistan? Cause I'm pretty sure the Taliban is who we are fighting right now in Afghanistan, but I highly doubt getting rid of one son will do much. Unless you compare it to getting Saddam. His sons were killed before he was.

It wouldn't justify his actions, but it would make them understandable.
; If he was our enemy then it isn't tragic.
There are no "allies" and "enemies" in war, only winners and losers, people who are dead and people who are alive. It is very tragic that a possibly brainwashed person was killed. Hell, it's tragic that such propaganda even exists.
Tragic is the death of innocent bystanders, not people who are willingly putting their lives on the line.
Innocent. That's a word that is very broad in it's definition. Tragic is the death of anyone, not just "innocent" people.
Whoop-de-doo, a man who was a terrorist got killed. Much like the hundreds of other terrorists and terrorist supporters before him. The only difference is this is the Son of the Bogey-man Osama!
Does this actually bring us any closer to disabling Al Qaeda operations? Nope. Does it move us closer to ending the war on terror? Nope. is this in fact just a piece of meaningless propaganda designed to make people think progress is being made because we've kiled someone 'important'? Almost certainly.
K...I'm done being bitter now.

Someone who willingly decides to kill isn't innocent. Death in general is tragic yes, that we cannot live peacefully yes, but circumstantially this isn't.

What led him to willingly decide to kill? His environment, correct? How much control do you think people actually have over themselves? People are never in full control of their actions, as hard as that is to believe. When I say "innocent," I mean it wasn't by his complete, uninfluenced volition that he chose to kill.

Influenced or not the decision to take action lies within oneself. One might believe they are doing something good because of influences in their environment, but it is always the individual that makes the choice. Just because the majority says the action is justified does not mean it actually is.

Well, that's right as far as who does it.

It's a "choice" by mere technicality of definition. Is it REALLY a choice, though, after all is said and done? No.

Why not? Because the society the individual grows and learns in accepts it? Anyone can question authority, but many people choose not to.

Interesting revelation in my life to know that my environment make me the exact opposite of the rest of my family... then again I find the rest of my family to be intolerable white trash proverbially inbred mentally inferior fools...
This requires more research!!
Back to the topic!
Yeah, the environment he was born in played a major role in how he turned out, but in life, you live and die by your decisions. If you're not willing to die by your decisions, then you should choose much safer decisions, like turning your back on Al-Qaida and becoming a farmer or something.
perhaps it was because I chose not to live like the rest of my family that made me so different? *shrug* possible.

He has like thirty or so sons. He's had the same number of wives, you know.
