Hey hey I never said it was funny, but you have to be pretty lacking in common sense to do something like that. An infant or toddler takes things and puts them in their mouth as a way to explore and learn about their surrounding world. At age nine one should know a little bit more about consuming toxic fluids. Younger kids might still be susceptible to poisoning with colorful or good tasting medication, but petrol is not exactly candy like.

Well he was drinking it to become a Transformer so I'm pretty sure he knew it was petrol. So he must have at least known petrol was for cars. I would imagine he would've realized petrol was toxic, but apparently not. However we can't really say more than that due to lack of specifics.
