But on a more helpful note:
Here are some.
Googled autotune vst, first result.
Check the "Best Free VST Effects" thread.
Search there for G-Snap.
But anyway, better to learn to sing in tune :p other way Jay Z will kick you.
Actually the real advice would be "You could learn to sing in tune...in a studio enviroment in which your on the spot and the 10,000+ dollar mic your singing in will pick up EVERY SINGLE nuance of your voice, so even the most perfect singers can sound like shite, luckily that heavy mix will cover most of it up!"

do you honestly think the OP is in a professional study paying hundreds and hundreds of dollars an hour, singing into a proper microphone with producers glaring at them through the glass?
or is it some kid in his bedroom tryin to make music?

The point I was making was even the best singers require pitch correction and editing in the studio, no matter what grade (because even a cheap condenser can pick up the nuances of your voice)

Okay, fine. It's difficult for even trained singers to consistently sing on pitch, that's the point you're making?
What the hell does vocal nuance have to do with that? Tonality does NOT equal pitch. Singing off pitch into a $20 rock band mic is no different than singing off pitch into a $300 ksm27 or a multithousand dollar rode or something like that.

That depends on how off pitch we're talking. A shitty rockband mic won't be as apparent as an expensive studio mic, but with a huge sacrifice of quality of course. The freq response of a mic, DOES actually effect how easily you can hear pitch.
Especially when you add things like compression, or take away things such as reverb.

To make it clear, at this point are we talking about a few cents sharp or flat? Because if a singer is approaching semi-tones off pitch, you'll hear it regardless of equipment.

Yes, we're talking realistically off-pitch, not overboard off-key. A few cents or so, where it at least at the point bugs the singer or engineer, and not the general public.

Autotune (or something like it) set to the fastest possible response time.

I don't know if it's good or if it even works, or if it's a deadly virus, but this might be what your looking for.
Even I'm not enough of an asshole to bash on someone because they want to experiment with autotune. I'm doing the same thing, not because I can't hold a pitch, but because I like playing with new things (Read: New things to me).
Try G-Snap... That's what I use, and it gets the job done... if you're willing to dish out some cash though, I'd highly suggest going with Melodyne.

If you want a VST plugin, check out the Antares Auto-Tune VST. You can auto-tune manually, or automatically just by selecting the pitch of the voice and setting retune speed to 0 (you don't have to set it to 0 but it works best that way from what I've experienced).

Autotune is a trademark of Antares, who make Antares Autotune, the original autotune software package/hardware module.
I, personally, prefer Melodyne, which is catered more for production over live performance as Autotune is. Gives a lot better control over the sound.
