Ok, so. I know you may think this is someone talking who has no experience with online play, and you would be right. The thing is, our project has someone coding online play (which does need to be fast, since the game is very fast paced), however, we have been told that the only way to run an online system is by migrating to AS 3. We have spent literally months on this project in AS2, and none of us is overly experienced in AS 3, so we would rather not do that unless we utterly have to.

Now what I ask is this: Is a fast online system possible in AS 2? I'm sure I've seen somewhere before that it is, but I thought I would ask you guys to be sure.

Thanks in advance.

Yes of course you can. There are a few different possibilities, such as SmartFox which I experimented with. Of course, my little games failed because they lagged too much, but if you can figure out a way to make lag-free games, then yes, it is possible in AS2.

Well I don't know much about online play, but I do know that AS3 executes up to ten times faster than AS2.

In case you haven't noticed yet, this isn't my main anymore. PM me here.

We know P2P is possible in AS3, but what about AS2?

As far as I know, before AS3 came out there were lots of lag free online multi-player flash games. Provided they had a good server. It would only require some server side programming.

And this is for Super Nuke Bros right? Awesome game, can't wait for it to be finished. I can tell it's going to be one massive game.

We have a server that we can connect to, we just need to know how to send and receive data in real time for P2P play.
