Any opinions on today's music??
HAHA DICKTATION IM SO REBEL AND MATURE LOLOLOLOLOL FLO RIDA RULES!!!!!!!111
Considering you're a heavy metal fan, you'll just have to wait until people stop caring for pop-rock.

Good music is hard to find these days. The over exposure of the "in" artists have pushed the more interesting and original artist to the back burner. It's still there, but you have to really know where to look to find the kind of music you like.
Do what now...?
The music is suffering and evolution, and how we can see some of you don't like... but I like it anyway... Why you are so petty?Slipknot is cool, KoRn is cool... you call it fake Metal why? Because it isn't Heavy Metal? So... is Nu Metal. If you don't like ok but respect please... I don't like Rap, Hip-Hop and Pop and another genres of music but I respect, I don't like I just don't listen to, I'm always seeing hatefuls comments in slipknot vids, insulting them saying that they suck just because they don't like them, so if they hate them so much why they still listening to Slipknot? Maybe they like but they are just stupid... For me every genre of Metal, Rock, Hardcore or Punk are cool, and Grunge is cool too, I just don't like too much Emo so I don't listen too, I like some emo bands I got to admit but it's not my style, I am more in Nu Thrash and Melodic Death Metal.

As far as music stereotypes go...
Classic Rock (The Who, The Beatles ect.) - Upper class
Hard Rock, Pop Rock (Nickleback, Paramore ect.) - Middle class
Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer ect.) - Middle class & Lower class
Soft Metal (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest) - Upper class & Middle class
Nu-Metal (SOAD, Korn) - Middle class & Lower class
Alternative (Foo Fighters, Metallica during Load & ReLoad) - Middle class
Hip-hop, Rap (Snoop Dog, Soulja Boy) Lower class & Living on the street class
That's my take on the stereotypes of fans almost every music genre...

Yes, modern popular music is shit. You have to look to find all the good stuff. It's common knowlegde.

I like Classic Rock.
Soft Metal (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest) - Upper class & Middle class
And Soft Metal
Alternative (Foo Fighters, Metallica during Load & ReLoad) - Middle class
And Occasionally Alternative
I'm technically Middle Class, but according to this I'm nearer Upper Class...
Song of the Firefly is on Steam Greenlight and Kickstarter. Give them a look and support the project!

Iron Maiden and Judas Priest Soft Metal?... Heavy Metal indisputable dude... Your taste of Hard Rock is so wrong... Hard Rock is Van Halen, Guns N' Roses and Bon Jovi, DON'T mix Hard Rock and Pop Rock... I don't understand your "classes"...

You expect the radio to not play shit? Just because they do doesn´t mean that todays music sucks. Stop being close minded.

I don't find Iron Maiden or Judas Priest heavy AT ALL. Same thing with Black Sabbath. (you have to understand that I listen to pretty heavy music, such as Metallica, Slayer, Evile, so by my standards, Maiden and Priest are soft metal)
Bon Jovi is classic rock
Never heard a Van Halen song in my life.
"Welcome to the Jungle" and "Shackler's Revenge" are the only Guns 'N Roses songs I've ever heard in my life.
I wasn't mixing Hard Rock and Pop Rock. I merely stated that they're both liked by the same class.
Classes are actually legitimate ways to seperate one household's wealth from another's. The Upper class are typically more rich than the Middle class, who are typically more rich than the Lower class.
The Lower class are the ones who don't have a lot of money, or have well paying jobs.
The Middle class are the average.
The Upper class are the ones who have a lot of money and are usually rich.
I hope you understand now.

Just in an Iron Maiden or Judas Priest concert you can understand why me and other people call them Heavy Metal, really...
Bon Jovi is Hard Rock... and that is indisputable too...

I agree; all the radio ever plays is the same trite pop rubbish. However, there's this one college radio station where I'm from that I like. It mostly plays indie rock and IDM, but sometimes they play heavy metal or reggae, which is pretty cool. Unfortunately, I haven't listened to that station in over a year, though I think I might do so today. Also, it really irks me when people say they hate all hip-hop music. Admittedly most newer/more mainstream rappers suck, but there are still some rap groups and stuff that really aren't that bad, for example, MF Doom, Kool Keith and Jurassic 5.

So.. What you're saying is that people who like the Beatles are better then the rest? Bullshit.
And Iron Maiden is Heavy Metal, there's no such thing as Soft Metal.

you listen to real music. this preppy pop emo crap and gangsta phaze will end. raw and ugly rock and roll never dies
Dunno why I am still here.
I'm sorry, modern groups and people like Cynic, Hiromi Uehara, Steven Wilson, and Buckethead kick the shit out of bands like Metallica, The Beatles, Slipknot, etc.
You just have to look harder.

Today's pop music flat out sucks, you have to dig for the good bands these days. And the "new" bands you mentioned sucked hardcore.

I'm not going to lie, I don't find Iron Maiden heavy at all. I won't doubt that they're metal, I'm just saying that I would hardly call them heavy metal.

People who like Beatles aren't exactly upper-class.
They were everyone who grew up in the 60s and 70s, and people still today appreciate them.
I mean, that's like saying only upper-class listens to Billy Joel or Neil Young or Elton John. It's stupid and untrue.
And this topic is pretty close-minded.
I also notice that whenever a thread like this is made, no one mentions classical music either. I guess it must be doing pretty well off then, with people like Steve Reich, John Adams, Philip Glass, and George Friedrich Haas continuing to make awesome music for the 21st century, right?
Look them up.
Anyway, start digging and start opening the ears.

There's just so much to choose from. And I wish I had more time in a day to listen to it all and discover new artists. Today's music is just so widespread, that it's virtually impossible to NOT be able to find something you can easily love. There is still good music being made - you just gotta know where to find it. Can't just sit and listen to what the radio spews out, or what your parents used to listen to.
