We don't have post editing because people would abuse it, even when it comes to their own posts.
People could use the feature to weasel their way out of mistakes they made in arguments, conflicts with mods, conflicts with other users, or just for the hell of it.
Just make sure to edit before you post. A typo isn't the end of the world. If your typo makes something unintelligible, then just clarify in a second post.
And as far as stickies go, the reason behind that is that there are so many official threads that there's no use in it. If we were to sticky all the threads that were sticky-worthy, the first two pages would be completely sticky threads. Plus, It just doesn't look appealing.
