Just like everything in life, its a balance, if youre too optimistic all the time, youre crossing over into naive, if you're too pessimistic youre crossing over into emo/goth/cuts myself.

i think optimism is always in humans, even when we're being pessimistic, not individual optimism, like you may always think this is gonna suck, etc, but if you had no faith something good could happen, you wouldnt live, no one would, so humans, over all are optimistic with big things, and pessimistic with the little things

lets say there was food on the island, that if you looked for hard enough you could have found.

OH WAIT. you were too busy BITCHING AND MOANING to actually look for it! and now explorers have found you dead body with tear marks all over its face next to a pile of bananas.

I am like the opposite of you, like totally the opposite. I am always optimistic, well when it's needed. Like this month for example, I got kicked out of my room because my parents want to rent it out to someone because we are dirt poor at the moment. I got upset, but then I said "Well atleast I still got a house" and also some other things like "There's atleast satellite t.v. in the living room" and "The couch is pretty comfy I suppose" and so on. I am not a negative person.

I wouldn't say I was pessimistic, but I would say I fucking hate most people and things.

See that's good, imo. However, everything in life, as others have said, is a balance.

I'm so confused, I lose arguments with myself.

can there be a demeanor in which you are neither overtly optimistic nor pessimistic? in which you go with what happens at the current state?

I'm a pessimist by nature, but if I am surrounded by other pessimists than I become an optimist to avoid becoming depressed by bad outlooks. By on its own, my bad outlook is just fine.

A good mix of both keeps me in an alright mental state. Being neutral is one of the best things I have ever chosen to do. Be realistic and at the same time work to fix your issues.

I didn't mean to start the thread out like that, I really wanted to be about Pessimism Vs. Optimism, was in bad mood when I started out the thread. Ok?

Pessimism is better because you end up being proven right most of the time.

Pessimism, because at least then you're never disappointed.

You have to take life how it comes at you. So, being optimistic helps, since it helps to turn any situation into a good one.

Combine it with "I don't give a crap" and you have a great mood that stays stable.

Unlike PMS ridden teenaged girls.

These go together, in my opinion. However like almost everything in life, both of these have pros and cons.

I'm usually neutral until something happens which pushes to being optimistic or pessimistic.
