Try compressing the music files. Get on Flash, and open up the library. Right-click on the music file and > Exporting Settings. If the file is long use the MP3 setting, if it's a speech sound then use the SPEECH settings. Use the ADPCM compression to strongly compress music files. Use this for buttons clicks and such. Don't ever use the RAW compression. That will quadruple the size of the sound file. To decrease the size of image files go to; File > Publish settings > flash TAP > and look for JPEG quality. You can decrease that but it's not always a good idea. Don't use bitmaps files. You can convert the files to movie clips using "Bitmap Tracing." Modify > Bitmap > Trace Bitmap.
I hope this helps.
Also make sure you have nothing outside the boundries, try to put everything in movie clips and don't use the build in effects of flash, the weird Explode / implode or weird tweening effects, they look silly and use alot of memory.
Above poster allready said it, don't use sprite backgrounds ( or just don't use sprites at all ) and compress your sound, especially if you use 5 minute songs for a 10 second effect. Audacity is a great program to trim your sound length.
Depending on how long your movie is ofcourse , but 1 minute shouldn't be bigger then 2mb.... well if your file is still to big, try to delete stuff from your library and resaving the file a couple of times.
I hope you can get a smaller file since I usually blam files being to big for what their worth to.
