It says it's due Monday the 17th, so yes you still have time.

Okay great. I wasn't sure if there was a deadline for people to enter, or whether you just had to submit by that date. I guess it's the latter.

I have a question about my upcoming entry.

You see, my entry will be some kind of concerto, meaning that there will be three movements. Technically, it's as if i was submitting three pieces. Would my entry be disqualified under these conditions ?

Excellent contest, ive been following it for a few days. I like the theme. It allows for a versatile approach for many. If I get time I'll give it a shot. There are some really good entries that stand out.

Keep them up coming folks! This is a great watch!

If it has the theme in it, and any portation of the movements, it's fine.

To clarify, you can have the theme in just one movement and not in the others, and it'll qualify.

Keep in mind though, length is not necessarily going ot get you a better score.

Well, the theme is going to be included in each movement, slightly modified.

Keep in mind though, length is not necessarily going ot get you a better score.

I can tell you i'm not the best when it comes to length. The whole purpose of having the three movements is diversity.

'Wow!' I thought as I was reading the contest syllabus. I was thinking, "this could really be my chance to shine, since orchestrated music is among my top genres." But then I kept reading.... 5 MINUTES!! Now listen buddy, some of the best orchestrated pieces of out time reach even 12 minutes. I was very eager to submit my best orchestrated song Almany but it is in the 6 minute range, likewise my other song Last Quest, but the latter has a small error.
Almany is even in a crisp clean 3/4 time. Well, I guess this disqualifies DJ Chilvan. At least, as a consolation prize it would be nice if you could check my orchestras out and leave a review or vote.

P.S. I cant make a new entry that can qualify because of one main reason---Time. Yes, I have a good ten days but that would still account for rushing hence music comes from the heart and sixth sense, not soley the brain or musical experience, and as I am now, my brain is locked up and my heart is cold.

Those entries are previously done though right, so they wouldn't have the theme, which wouldn't work for this contest.

I put a 5min limit because us judges are required to listen to the WHOLE thing regardless. 12 minutes is too long, 5 minutes is just right, and a slightly over commercial length.

Here's my version, however I will NOT be submitting this to the contest for a few reasons (if you must know why you can PM me). The theme was a good challenge to work with, I really enjoyed working with it.

This is a great contest, and I wish everyone the best of luck.

Okay, i'm not hearing too much improvisation out of people besides in bass and percussion. If I have a small theme I want as a tag, I can do that right? I'm a little nervous about it because I haven't heard too much of it yet.

Sure. Just make sure you have the original theme as well.

THIS IS YOUR 7 DAY WARNING!

Entries will not be accepted once the clock hits August 17th, 12:00am PST

And I will hold this to the best of my ability, so don't think I'll make an exception.

After that, I'll see about coming up with a fair judging system and then the judges will start listening.

7 days?! Well I'm almost done with mine :)

(By the way robomanus, I must say your father sure knows how to master, it sounds like the real thing to me!)

Anyway it's about time I enter a contest of sorts, I've always wanted to try expanding on someone else's theme, good practice and fun at the same time

I'm entering this contest way late. I haven't been on for a long time so I really missed this, but it seems interesting and I want to do this. I've got something rough worked out, but after reading further into the thread I don't think it'll work, so I'll probably twist it into a personal work instead and try to get a quick four days work in on this thing.

It's in the cello/trombone, then the second phrase is in horns and violin. I used it as counterline rather than as the melody, but it is in there note for note. Hope that works for you!

Hi guys! It's been a while, but I finaly finished my submition!!

Here it is: Part 1
Part 2

The reason why my submition is in two parts is because the converter I'm using can only convert 1 minute at a time. It also changed the sounds completly, making it better at certain places and worst at other places.

For Nathan: Wich version are you going to evaluate?
