I use FL Studio but no matter how much I tweak the instruments they still end up sounding say too "synthesized". I was wondering if there is similar software with instruments that sound better.

And no I'm not going to get a real guitar, keyboard, drum set, etc.

Thanks in advance.

For more 'realistic' instruments you have to look at samples or sample packs.

There's a lot of free samples out there, but you generally pay for it in quality.

A good orchestral sample pack is hundreds of dollars and up, because of the extensive time involved in capturing the sounds.

Popular names in orchestra are Garritan and East West.

Thanks. Any sampler packs with realistic electric guitars, bass guitars, and drum sets?

Drums, yeah. Check out addictive drums.

Guitars are harder, I have yet to hear of anyone doing sample work on guitars. The problem with guitars (and I believe this is more glaring than with orchestral strings) is that there's at least three or four places you can play the same note or series of notes on the guitar, each one having a slightly different tonality. There's a million ways to inflect any given note, there's an unlimited number of guitar/amp/effect combinations to consider after you've generated the base sound. It'd take a really complicated software front-end to make a realistic simulated guitar.

If you have the skill you can do amazing e-guitars, but you have to know how to use the library. I have this, and I don't sound like the guy in this video: http://www.prominy-ss.com/LPC/LPC_super_

This product is definitely cool. looks pretty straightforward, and the demos are pretty sweet.

It might be avoidable, but sometimes it still comes out a little... fake sounding.

Definitely loads better than anything I've seen before today.

There are TONS of free VSTi, very well made, samplers, romplers or physical modeling, sounding very realistic.
However, to make a VST instrument to sound realistic in the mix, that's more complicated.
You can have the most beautiful samples and still, you can ruin the mix just by putting the wrong reverb or eq on them. When we hear something, our brain position the sound source in space by calculating reflections of the room. Also we have a image of the room based on reflections.
It's really impressive how much you can make with the right reverb, how you can make a fake instrument to sound real.

Enough blabbering, what instruments are you looking for ?
Drums ? I recommend "Blue Noise Drums", "HTP DARBUKATOR Lite", "Addictive Drums Demo", all FREE, all very good.
Yellow Tools Independence Free t's a very powerful sampler that comes with several sample banks including guitars (electric and acoustic), drums (6 kits+ a percussion kit+ a impulse reverb very impressive), basses (electric and acoustic) and many more.
Their site seems to be down right now but will be up soon... I hope.
Another FREE awesome sampler is UVI Workstation including several tone banks very nice.
DSK Plugins are already classic, their Indian DreamZ, World StringZ, DSK Brass and DSK Strings are used by a lot of musicians here.
Audio Software: Software Synths page 2, there is a BIG block written by me, check there the Hammonds... some are very good, very realistic.

I love you so much right now....

I might just add these links to my own collection of links on my userpage.

BTW OP, on my userpage, you can find a whole fuckton of links to excellent samples, soundfonts, and VSTs that I use. The only one you won't find is the 5-string soundfont, which may or may not be an illegal soundfont that was posted on this other site. Sad too, I just found out that it might be one of the best string samplesets that I have in my collection too, since I just found out that it's capable of multiple articulations. A shame......
