AH my ps3 got yellow light of death

I was playing call of duty 4 like usual then all of the sudden the ps3 looses power, and now i cant turn it on. It blinks for a few seconds then the yellow light comes on....does anybody know how to fix? HELP

Maybe it just overheated? Unplug it completely from the socket, let it cool down, and then try again later. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you man.

Your not supposed to keep a PS3 vertical unless you have the official cooling stand (it's like 12 dollars in Australia really cheap and works great) but if you don't have the stand get used to yellow lights.

Well I keep my PS3 vertical without the stand, my room gets really hot, and it's on almost all day, until I go to bed. Me and my little brother take turns using it so there is no point in shutting it off. It has never gotten that yellow light thing though it has frozen a few times, but maybe it' cause of how many windows I open on the browser. You must have been one of those really unlucky people that got a faulty system. Send it to Sony, they should either fix her right up, or send you a new one. Just contact costumer support and they will help you out.

Is yours by any chance a 60gig. people have said those have been dropping out of the sky recently, as if they have a self destruct switch. anyway, call sony and get 150 bucks ready, or warrenty if you have it.

No i have an 80gig, and im out of warranty...they should fix them for free

if your out of warranty they won't do anything for free. the only way to get free repairs is if a firmware update caused it to die and you can prove it's not your fault.

The only reason Xbox's are notorious for it is beacuase they had time for the infamy to build up before the PS3 even released. The consoles fail just as mcuh as each other, and Xbox's have even been improved to the point where they fail not nearly as much anymore. It's just that because the Xbox had more time to become "notorious", tha's all people think of now.

also i've never heard of this "yellow light" before. is it like the equalivent of a red ring for the 360?? this may be a new problem, have u tried looking at the manual for the ps3? (lol, i know, its a stupid thing i just said, but i'm just trying to help)
