When uploading a flash you can put advertisements on it and get money for it. I was wondering how much do you get for a view??

I've got CPMs ranging from $0.20 to $1.50, so between 0.02 and 0.15 cents per impression.

I thought it was per click? Or is it also per view?

Generally clicks, but can be a mixture. Thats why you average it out and divide your income by views to find the eCPM. That will give you a rough estimate on how much you'll make per 1000 views in the future.

If you're super lucky you can get up to $1 per 1000, but you're most likely to make as little as $0.10 per 1000

To tell you the truth, ad revenue from Flash games is minimal at best. You should try to get a sponsorship or find another way to monetize your work.
Like everyone else has already stated, the CPM (Cost per mille) oscillates anywhere from $0.1 to $1, with $0.3 being the average for a good submission.
This means that you will get 30 cents per one-thousand impressions of your work regardless of clicks; in order to make $100 you will need to secure 100,000 impressions.
In summary, to make money from ads your game/movie has to be exceptionally good. Don't let this discourage you however, as this should serve as an incentive to improve and get better.

I agree, in-game ads alone arent necessarily going to make you a tonne of money, but hopefully as they become more mature in the future they should become a little more lucrative.

Newgrounds offers in-game ads for movies and games; all you have to do is download their API (Application Programming Interface) and modify it to link to your account.
MochiAds is the other service that many developers/artists implement in their work.

one thing to note is that NG ads makes you more money than Mochiads. Also, for people wanted to get payed quickly, you only need to make $50 on NG ads to get payed as opposed to Mochiads, where you need to make at least $100 to get payed. So keep that in mind guys.

They don't necessarily, in fact I would have thought Mochi pays more.

NG ads is just CPMStar, and if you email CPMStar directly or MochiAds, you should be able to negotiate a higher percentage, if you use NG ads, you're stuck with their base percentage while NG takes the extra bit, as well as putting a link to Newgrounds.com in your game!

So put simply, if you have a decent flash which is going to bring in a lot of hits, don't let anyone take you for a ride, go directly to the ad companies and get yourself the best deal, definitly don't go through a third party such as Newgrounds who just take some of your cut!

I have $0.79 eCPM, but I expect this to die down as the game gets older.

Yea usualy does, mainly because the traffic hitting the game is less valuable in terms of advertising. For example a lot of it could be bots

If Newgrounds pays more than MochiAds is probably because the average CPM is worth a lot more due to the demographics. For example, viewers from Europe and North America are a lot more valuable in CPM terms than viewers from Asia and since most Newgrounds visitors are from the US and Europe this means a higher CPM.

In the end luck plays a big part in it I guess....

Nah, you just suck at placing ads :P

A lot of it is down to how you manage your ads. If you have lots of ads in different points of the game, or one which viewers keep coming back too like a game over screen, you'll probably end up with more impressions and a far lower average CPM.
