It may depend on who/what the character is.
the first name that comes to mind is "Zarg" I kind of imagined him (?) to be an alien from the planet Yeg.

However if he is a regular trooper he could be Hank or Chet.
He could be in the Maroon Platoon from the Moon.

If he is an elite trooper he could be The Snap.

Jeez, much more of this and I will start writing a story about him!
