OK, SO.
I was hanging out with some friends earlier today playing around with little fireworks that are pretty cheap. We had our fun, blah blah blah, and I was going to hang out with my friend, but I needed to get stuff first. I live pretty close, so I just walked home, but on the way, I smelled something like burning plastic.
I kinda ignored it, but as I kept going, I saw some bright orange light coming from behind the fence.
I looked through the crack between the boards in the fence, and I see but a fire about 3 or 4 feet tall. Now, normally, this wouldn't really be a big deal, but there seems to be nobody home, and also, it's VERY close to the house. So close in fact, that the base of the wall/foundation area was actually starting to catch, not to mention they had some of those big plastic tubs to store stuff melting into the fire
I knock on their door to make sure nobody is home, so then I go to the neighbor's house because there is a car there. Turns out, the neighbors aren't there either. LAME. On my way back to check the fire, I see a conveniently large garden hose that happens to have an extension hose on it, as well as one of those spray nozzles. I fumbled around with it for a few moments, then brought it over to the fence. I sprayed it at the fire for about a minute or two, then I called my dad since he was only a block away at our house.
We called the fire department, and they said I did a good job, but the funny thing is, on the way back home, I saw a wetted out used sparkler bomb. This is full of lame. Moral of the story is: I actually did something exciting this summer AND be safe with your damn fireworks.
I don't have a picture of the burned stuff, but I do have a picture of the firetruck, maybe tomorrow I'll go back and get more pics for proof.
So yeah, be safe with your fireworks.

Saved a burning building, no joke.

Well done you! I would've phoned the fire brigade straight away though, just in case it spread faster than I thought.

Why call the Fire Department when you could use your boy scout skills.

It makes little sense.

I just called 911 when I saw a dumpster on fire. Some dumb ass kid probably lit a firework and thought it was a dud and threw in the dumpster or someone maliciously lit it on fire on purpose.

Me and my friend were like...

Might want to read it again, champ.

Good job, OP. Setting blaze to an innocent family's home and then saving their ass.

Well done, I would have probably phoned the fire brigade. Lucky you had that hose so it didn't spread in the time the fire service came.

How did the firework get in the neighbors yard. It appears it was yours. So this has to be a joke.

Cool, you sprayed a 3 foot fire. Good job. I imagined a whole apartment building was in fire and you ran in there and saved an old lady that was stuck and a little Chinese 5 year old who's mother was for some fucked up reason outside staring instead of inside with her 5 year old child; then grabbed hold of a fire hose and put out the fire. But I guess not.

Well yeah, I probably should've, but it wasn't a huge fire.

Why call the Fire Department when you could use your boy scout skills.

I am no boy scout.

just called 911 when I saw a dumpster on fire. Some dumb ass kid probably lit a firework and thought it was a dud and threw in the dumpster or someone maliciously lit it on fire on purpose.

Yay for being really heroic!

Good job, OP. Setting blaze to an innocent family's home and then saving their ass.

Thanks, but let me clarify.
I wasn't anywhere near the house with fireworks I was using and the only ones I was using were those little green ones that go CRACKLECRACKLECRACKLE. And that was at a school, where everything was concrete, therefor not flammable.

Well done, I would have probably phoned the fire brigade. Lucky you had that hose so it didn't spread in the time the fire service came.

Yeah, I was gonna call them if the hose didn't work out.

Turns out heroes don't use paragraphs though...

I actually put in the spaces but they didn't stay, I promise. I must've not done it right.

How did the firework get in the neighbors yard. It appears it was yours. So this has to be a joke.

Actually, after the event, I went to my house a block away and saw a few guys screwin around with fireworks and stuff, so it might've been them, but I can't be sure.

Cool, you sprayed a 3 foot fire.

It's cooler than it sounds, even though it's not amazing, but given 10 more minutes, and the fact that nobody was around, it would've been really bad..
Basically, I prevented the needing of saving an entire burning building, by saving part of a burning building.

Bump with pics.
Ok, just for information, this wasn't actually a huge fire, as I previously stated, BUT, it hasn't rained for several weeks here, making it extremely dry, considering it's also been like in the high 80's
The news has even been warning people to be careful on the 4th because it's so dry, so given 10 more minutes, this could've been the entire wall.
So yeah, I caught it in it's early stage, but I still caught it.
I have two pics of the mess.
Here's the first one, it's just wall damage, the next one I'll post has all the garbage and stuff from the fire.

Saved a burning building, no joke.

Here's the other pic.
I can go take more if anyone wants, just tell me.
This is all the stuff that caught on fire.
There were two plastic tubs that were melting into the fire, those are the pink and green blobs in the pic.
I don't really know what else was burning, it was too on fire when I found it.

Good job there! So did the family whose house you saved like, give you money or bake you a cake or something? Because it sure sounds like that fire could have burnt down their house and left the family homeless. ;)

Did you tell your neighbors what you did? If so, were they pleased or were they suspicious that you started the fire?

Spaghetti14 clarified this earlier in the topic. Next time, you should read the entire topic before posting:
