Why is it that every commercial has to have a kid sitting in a classroom taking a test, a patient in a hospital talking to a nurse, or a family sitting in front of a TV, or playing the Wii, and acting like they are having the time of their lives with unrealistic joy and happiness?
This is why I like the Allstate commercials. The black guy is badass, I swear. Stern but fair.

Commercials are used in the hopes of selling products or services. People like happiness. Happiness is associated with smiling. Therefore, smiles are used in the hopes of increasing sales because customers associate the product they're watching be advertised with happiness.

One commercial that really bothers me is the ExtenZe Natural Male Enhancement commercial. It's really awkward and it's on, like all the time. I agree though, Most of todays commercials are so unrealistic and their always smiling attitudes make them really creepy. And the AllState guy is totally badass

Hapiness can occur everywhere. I've worked in a hospital last year. Patients are ill and that would bring their mood down, right? No there are those who are grumpy, but most of them were nice and when talked to were even cheerful. Kids in school having a fun teacher (especially young kids) can actually have fun. And while playing a wii, people should be pretty bored with it to not have fun.
It's not unrealistic, it's very much realistic.
