Well, I know how to get entries for collabs now. But I started thinking, could a flash animation actually be a virus? Just think about it, you push play and the next frame has the delete system 32 code, or whatever else can do something to your pc. Is that possible? thanks.

The most malicious thing a flash can do it make your printer print out images (of child porn?). Flash won't even let Flash take control of the mouse.

Well...Technically, after you press play in a flash it could send you to a website which could give you a virus and damage your computer. But I've never seen it happen before and it probably never will.

On a side note, though,
Flex applications - I believe - can cause some
serious damage to your computer.

You have to download them, though. So just
be cautious of the Flex desktop apps you install.

Any code in a swf has to be interpreted and processed by the actual Flash plugin the browser uses. The Flash plugin will not execute foreign code.

Yes, Flash can be used as a virus. It has been in the past and it probably will be again at some point in the future. Fortunately, such exploits are always non-trivial to implement and Adobe is generally pretty good about closing security holes quickly. There's no "format hard drive" directive in ActionScript. :)

Thanks guys, Im relieved lol. Just think, you made a nice collab, like street fighter one, spent hours or days on it, and you play it and one douchebag just happens to have the system 32 code in a frame. that would suck lol

No you can't. Flash Player has a time limit for code to execute; once a block of code is executed but fails to complete for more than 15 seconds, Flash Player quits the application.
It would be a lot easier to code a malicious application in an executable file.

That's not exactly malicious, maybe with Flex it could be, but you're just retarded if you download something and execute it when it's not from a trusted site. (Like what I did with 4chan Fandango).

4Chan was the whole reason I had to re-format my computers hard-drive. So I never go on it again.

Seriously, 4Chans not a trusted site, if you go on it, you're just begging to get a virus =/

No, I highly doubt that flash can do something like that.

All this coding talk is making my head spin.

THERE IS NO MORE TO SAY.
