As the subject says, what is your opinion on marijuana? Legalize? Keep it banned? Just legalize hemp? Shut the hell up about it? What's your opinion? If you're uncomfortable sharing whether you smoke or not that's fine, I'm not asking who does or doesn't, just your opinion on it.

But why do i care?
Since I was a small child, I have had allergic reactions to something i still haven't identified, as well as a few issues due to getting RSV as an infant. They usually consist of some trouble breathing, like someone has taken a rope and slowly tightened it around my neck, hives and all the other symptoms of a pretty bad reaction. Well, about two months ago, I had one of these reactions; there was a near whistling sound every time I inhaled and wheezing every time I exhaled. Now take from this what you will, but within a few seconds hitting my vaporizer, I could nearly instantly feel what ever tightness and constraint on my lungs slowly ease off. I could actually breathe again!

So let's get started. Here are just a couple uses for hemp alone:
"FIBER - the durable natural fiber from the stalks can be used for textiles, clothing, canvas, rope, cordage, for archival grade paper, & composite fibers replacing heavier toxic fibers (e.g. fiberglass), and building materials made with recycled plastic and fiber." - (thanks to AZhemp.org)

"FOOD - Hemp oil is mostly valued for its high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). At 80%, the hempseed oil contains the highest concentration of total PUFAs in the plant kingdom, the majority of which are the two essential fatty acids (EFA) linoleic acid (omega-6) and alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3). Its balanced EFA ratio, which closely matches human nutritional requirements, makes hemp oil a suitable ingredient in a variety of food, supplement and personal care products. Added to the value of hemp oil is the presence of a rare fatty acid, gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which is used to treat ailments such as neurodermatitis, arthritis and premenstrual syndrome." - (thanks to AZhemp.org)

So lets learn about Cannabis now...
"According to which US Government authority you want to believe, the lethal dose of marijuana is either about one-third your body weight, or about 1,500 pounds, consumed all at once." (thanks to Druglibrary.org)

"Modern research suggests that cannabis is a valuable aid in the treatment of a wide range of clinical applications. These include pain relief -- particularly of neuropathic pain (pain from nerve damage) -- nausea, spasticity (twitching), glaucoma, and movement disorders. Marijuana is also a powerful appetite stimulant, specifically for patients suffering from HIV, the AIDS wasting syndrome, or dementia. Emerging research suggests that marijuana's medicinal properties may protect the body against some types of malignant tumors and are neuroprotective." (a big thanks to NORML.org)

Like all smoke, Marijuana smoke contains carcinogens. "However, an extensive study, published in 2006 by Donald Tashkin of the University of California, Los Angeles found that there is no significant link between smoking cannabis and lung cancer" (thanks to Wikipedia.org)

As for the "gateway" theory on Marijuana, sorry to tell you, that's false.
"Marijuana does not cause people to use hard drugs. What the gateway theory presents as a causal explanation is a statistic association between common and uncommon drugs, an association that changes over time as different drugs increase and decrease in prevalence. Marijuana is the most popular illegal drug in the United States today. Therefore, people who have used less popular drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and LSD, are likely to have also used marijuana. Most marijuana users never use any other illegal drug. Indeed, for the large majority of people, marijuana is a terminus rather than a gateway drug." (thanks to Drugpolicy.org)

I hope that i have helped you learn something today, Marijuana is NOT a bad thing! The fact that we don't utilize this amazing plant more should be a crime! Now please don't misunderstand; I am by no means saying that everyone should go smoke marijuana no matter what their age, and no matter what their state's laws say. I am fully supportive of the use of marijuana in RESPONSIBLE DOSES, and am by no means saying to go smoke until you fall unconscious. My purpose in posting this information is to inform you about hemp and marijuana and to clear up a few misunderstandings.

If you wish to get involved in the reforming of marijuana prohibition laws, or simply learn more about them, go to NORML.org (The National Organization for Reform of Marijuana Laws) From that site, you can keep up with current events involving legalization and read up on stuff i haven't covered here.

Please, stay serious. and I hope this topic will be an exciting one.

TL;DR, but I'm pretty sure it was for the legalization, or maybe not, I didn't read.

I honestly say it should be legalized. The billions of dollars spent on the arrest, trial, and housing of those who buy, sell, and use marijuana is surely a major setback in our economy. Making it legal allows money to get around to places and honestly, contrary to popular belief, many of the people who use marijuana are not violent or cruel villains who deserve to be locked up longer than people who kill. My opinion really doesn't matter, let alone anyones at this point, but I still stand by what I have always said.

It should be legalised, but kept well away from schools/playgrounds/etc by imposing heavy fines on those who light up near where kids are.

Also the negative effects are overlooked too often.

We should consolidate all of the marijuana legalization debate threads into one big topic. It gets annoying seeing three new threads on the subject of marijuana every day.

(Personally, I think it should be legalized.)

It's nothing bad. Hemp and pot. I mean the declaration of Independence and the Constitution were written on hemp. Wanna get rid of those?

I totally agree with you 110%, it is truly a shame that most of us feel like there's nothing we can do in our own damned government. Noone should have to feel like their opinion doesn't matter. Thank you for your honest answer.

The irony of this thread is that nearly a few seconds before this thread was made, I got a text from a friend telling me to call the weed legalization hotline and I told myself, 'Well, I'm gonna call it, but like it matters'. This is thread that we need, a bunch of people for the legalization and we need endorsing. I vote BILLBOARDS!

I personally wouldn't use it, but I don't see how it's worse than any other legal substance out there. If people wanna do it, let 'em do it. It's their own choice, and it's not likely to harm others.

My two cents is that anyone who does it is a retard, but that should be their choice to be a retard, and it should be legalised.

This thread has been made time and time again. A bunch of twelve year olds ( lVlad) will come in and talk shit about how someone close to them Abandoned them, Because they smoked the devils drug of marijuana! Which we all know is bullshit. Weed is harmless. Many good man smoke marijuana. It has been proven that marijuana is much, Much safer than alcohol. Now some Dumbshit is going to link me to a study made by the "Keep kids of drugs" foundation.

Many hard working men smoke weed. Many lawyers, Doctors, And Cops smoke weed. When people talk about weed many kids have been taught to classify that in the hard drugs category . We are not giving children straight facts. We are not even teaching children about the harder drugs. When was the last time you saw an anti-drug commercial about anything But weed.

I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance! By fleeing the scene of an accident!

Oh and another:

Tell everyone using medical marijuana legally (glaucoma patients especially) to stop using marijuana or they will be arrested, and see how awry the hospital goes. Many people rely on the smoking, ingesting, or any other use of marijuana to keep them alive. Not just teens and college kids smoke marijuana, hell, the grandma next door may use it to help her lung disease subside.

I agree, it is truly depressing to see how they are willing to throw away all that money keeping something illegal that has no reason to be illegal in the first place.

Despite all that valuable bullshit it has going for it its still illegal and always will be as it should be. So because it does a few extra things than space people out and damage their health we should legalise it?
Nah, I don't think so.

Don't try to minimize the effects of marijuana like that. you can't just say that it does "a few extra things" did you know that there is a synthetic version of THC? (the active component in marijuana if you didn't know) They give it to cancer patients to ease their nausea and allow them to eat, but it isn't as effective as an actual dosage of marijuana. I recently watched a video called "Running From the Cure" By Rick Simpson, and he talks about how Hemp Oil, a highly concentrated form of THC, to cure cancer? seriously, watch it. And i'm more than willing to hear the damage to people's health. post some links, and i'll check them out.

No and I don't really care, if I must mention.

They give it to cancer patients to ease their nausea and allow them to eat, but it isn't as effective as an actual dosage of marijuana.

Because Marijuana's illegal remember? Of course they wouldn't.

I recently watched a video called "Running From the Cure" By Rick Simpson, and he talks about how Hemp Oil, a highly concentrated form of THC, to cure cancer?

I don't care for links I must say. Damn, I suck at this link pulling business.
