After careful consideration, and in light of the fact that ALL the major lists on NG BBS have been firmly rooted on Where is/How to?, I'm moving the VP list here for the time being. Dobio suggested asking liljim to move Newgrundling's original VP FAQ and List topic here, but I decided it'd be better to leave it on general. For one thing, I can announce the updates in it, so people who don't come to Wi/Ht? can find out it's updated and go through the link to check it out. This will also bring the topic to the front page and give the FAQ exposure to general's population. So, I suppose in celebration of my own breaking of the 10.00 VP barrier, here begins a new Top Voting Power List thread.

Five new additions this update: tehpom, SantoNinoDeCebu, Ozcar, Onic51346, and Scaper-X, bringing the total to 582 people. And again, only the top 100 section has the top movers (those who've ranked up) in boldface. Super congrats to me and Crono, who, due to our 7% and 5% bonus VP rankups (EG General and EG Supreme Commander), have by FAR the highest VP increases over the past 10 days.

heh. Yep. Incidentally, the 120s range is where I was first on this list, back when NGling first started the top 160 VP listings back in May or so, last year. So, welcome to where gfoxcook was not too long ago. You've got heady heights ahead if you keep moving up the top 50 b/p list. #;-}>

I COULD calculate their VP with NGling's equations (this is something I often do to find out if I'm ahead or behind someone when I'm at the same VP as them). But while I could do this with excel by putting in HT's current exp and have a new column devoted to calculating their REAL VP... I'd have to keep track of everyone's exp and b/p rank.

And keeping track of 582 people's VP is bad enough already. Adding exp and b/p rank to the mix would be insane, so no thanks.

I just let excel sort the list. Whoever was higher last update is going to be higher this one, if they're tied with someone who came up from below. Might not be exact, but it's good enough. For obvious cases of someone falling and someone rising in the top 100, perhaps, I'll add a 0.001 to the VP of the person who should be ahead or subtract 0.001 to someone who should be behind before I sort the list by VP. A good example of a case when I did this is:

012.) 11.07 UNCH. innphernoe -1
013.) 11.07 -0.04 agent66 -3

even though it only displays 11.07 for all three people, I actually put in 11.069 for agent66, which rounded up to 11.07. This ensured that Yoink and innphernoe (two people who're actually depositing and using NG somewhat, at least) didn't have to wait until next update to pass agent66. Agent hasn't done anything on NG for about 8 months, so... there ya go.

But in general, like I said, it's all due to the way the list was the previous update.

He was 0.01 VP above me not too long ago and since we've both remained pretty consistent with the depositing and since we both seem to have ranked up recently, he should still be higher than me on that list. Yeah, I can't wait to break into the Top 100. And now that my finals for this semester are over, I'll be able to gain blam/protect points like I used to again. Yeah, but you may pass him at some point but still be behind him on this list. If you want to find out, for yourself, whether you're ahead or behind him, do what I said and use teh equations. Take your exp, his exp, HT's exp, your b/p rank, his b/p rank, and plug in all that info into the equations. I'll demonstrate for you, since I always love a good VP calculation:

humantarget52's exp: 14946
subtract 400 for levels 1-8: 14546

biteme's exp: 3145... - 400 = 2745
biteme's rank: EG Captain... bonus is 0.36

PZY's exp: 3665... - 400 = 3265
PZY's rank: EG 2nd Lt... bonus is 0.32

there's all our raw data. Now let's calculate:

(2745/14546) + 1 = 1.188712
1.188712 * 5 = 5.943558 (biteme's base VP)
5.943558 * 1.36 = 8.083239 (biteme's overall VP)

(3265/14546) + 1 = 1.224460
1.224460 * 5 = 6.122302 (PZY's base VP)
6.122302 * 1.32 = 8.081438 (PZY's overall VP)

so there ya go. Biteme's VP is indeed higher right now, by approximately 0.002 votes.

If so, I wouldn't worry too much. Crono's done making big jumps in VP, since he hit the last rank. All his future VP increases, barring new b/p ranks, will be from exp depositing alone.

Whereas when you get your next rankup, you'll definitely be ahead of him again.

But if you meant for him to actually let you rankup to the next b/p rank... how is he stopping you from doing that? There's no sliding scale in b/p. #;-}>

Hehehe, I'm the only one with 7.60 VP so no need to figure out ranking within a specific VP :) It's 7.61 now, but no big difference there. That Praporschik rank up really helped boost my VP to the top 200, nice.
